Hi! I was wondering if you could give me som einput on the Hoover Elites. I might get one for my birthday (see link) and I would like to know if this vacuum is the right way to go. If you can, it would be awesome if you could post a picture or a video of the one(s) you have and tell if I should get this vacuum. Thanks!

-Josh

I'm not sure I'd bother getting a new one, when there are so many old ones out there that are better equipped (attachments), are more colorful, and will probably have greater collectors interest in the future. The models with different names (Runabout, Constellation, Convertible) are more interesting in my opinion. If you like black, you can get one from the "Turbo Power" series.

Well just this weekend I was able to meet up with my old friend, the Hoover Elite! Elites have been with me my whole life. My parents had one until 2004 when my dad busted the fan and threw it away. Then my grandparents had a Hoover with an Elite motor. All my friends but one had an Elite, and that one had a Kirby G4. But ether way, I had been Elite-less for almost 6 years until this weekend. And I am very Hoover-Happy! Those Elites clean so well and with such a large bag I can't believe I survived with my Tempo!

But I was also just looking at that vacuum! I pretty sure that has the 7amp motor in, which not only sounds really cool, but cleans short-piled carpet really well. A bags are still almost everywhere, and even if you can't find them Z and Y bags fit too.

I'd say to get it. $100 for new Elite, which has the commercial warranty, is a great deal. Or you could wait like me and get one at the Goodwill for $10 each!

Good luck on your Hoovering, I have really rediscovered the Hoover brand this weekend. The Elites are just so great and I fully endorse them.

This Elite has a 7.1 amp motor! I would like to stay in he Hoover Brand this year, and when I saw this vacuum, I flipped out because I always wanted a Hoover Elite!

Then you should get it. Hoover will replace that by something new soon, even then cheapo Tempo is commercial now.

Josh,

I have several original Elite type machines. I have a 1989 Elite 600 in blue, a 1990 Elite 200 in white, which are permanent fixtures in my collection, and a few rebadges. I would be happy to let one of the rebadges go to another young collector. Send me an email-mgeda2009@gmail.com. Do you have a Facebook?

Hey Josh, glad to see another person who likes the Elite! I have an Elite 300 right now, barebones, no-tool model and I love it, still looks new and performs like new. It does such a better job on carpets than my friend's Dyson Animal. It's kinda loud but that's a trade off! I also had an Elite 430 which I have to my sister and it's still going strong afer 15 or so years! If you want a good carpet cleaning machine then the Elite is a pretty good choice; above-floor cleaning is kinda iffy.

Rich

vintageroyal611- Sadly, I do not have a Facebook, but I have a Twitter! Do you mind posting some pics of your elites?

hooverman21- I love the Hoover Elites and my Mom had a vacuum that was pretty much the same! It was the Bissell Power Partner Upright! I LOVED THAT VACUUM! Like the pic. but burgundy!

Other than a Hoover, what brand and type of vacuum is close to the noise level?
