Has anyone heard anything new about the introduction of the latest model Kirby? They are still featuring the Sentria on their website. Thanks Michael LaBue

Michael & website...

First I want to start off by saying that, most people I know, say I am one of the most optimistic, positive people they know. (NOT attempting to blow my own horn.)

This much I can tell you Mike, in all my 25+ years with Kirby, I've been to many introductions & I've never heard about a 'new release' more than 2-3 months in advance & even then it was speculation & guessing.

One time we knew 'something' was up 9-10 months in advance, as we had to prepare for travel (i.e.: hotel, flights, etc.) to a convention. That was for the World Convention in Nashville, TN in January of 1990. [[ Talk about vacuum nuts... there were over 4000 of us there for that convention !!! WOW, someday that may be the VCCC !!! ]]

As for the website, I have NEVER seen a 'new model' on it, b4 it was introduced & out being sold in homes.

We were in the top 50 Distributors for years, even for many years an immediate direct promotee of the then current President of Kirby. I, personally, am really surprised with all the speculation I've seen. If (& I say if, cautiously!!!) it does happen here soon, that we see a new model, I will be in complete 'shock & awe' as to the lack of secrecy on Kirby's part. [[ It will have been a real treat to have seen the info here first. ]]

That all said, I too do anticipate the arrival of a 'new' model Kirby. Here's hoping sooooonnnneerrr, than L-8-r !!!

have a gr8 day all

Bill

Website

As to the Kirby website, even when the new model does appear on it, you won't see much of that model, at least enough to satisfy us. I don't believe there is an entire image of the Sentria on there now. I recall a pic of the handle and different images of the base without showing all of it. I'm sure they feel there is more chance that you'll call your Kirby dealer to come over for the demo if you can't see the entire thing there. They insist on being shrouded in mystery.

I am a Kirby nut, but I wish they would modernize their sales approach.

Chris

Kirby website

I have nothing against Kirby, but if I had to buy one based on the contents of their website, I'd be heading down the road to the nearest competitor's place.

I realize that Kirby's current website never shows complete images of the current machine. However the reason I visited their official website was to see which model they were featuring. Obviously it is still the "Sentria" which by the way is still our daily driver.

Thanks to Bill (A007Kirbyman) for giving us all a sober perspective about information on upcoming models. He seems to have the strongest, most legitimate affiliation with Kirby and that makes him a credible source. On top of that, he shows no interest in wanting to be the first to divulge information about the "new Kirby". Frankly, I tend to believe him. We heard from others who think they have the scoop on Kirby and dare I say, some of these individuals might have even put their jobs at risk to divulge the tidbits of their own speculation. My opinion is that it will all come out in the wash when the new model is officially released. Kirby is an old company and I don't think they stuck around this long by being careless enough to release details of their future models so easily. I for one, don't believe everything I read on the internet.

Just to clear the waters

A US Patent is a public document filed by a person to claim the legal rights to a product, idea, or process. SO by giving out the information that I have I have done nothing against our company policy, or against the US Patent laws, so no job was put in jeopardy, now had I posted pictures hat would be a different story. My office handles the Underwriters Lavatory Patents for the electrical parts. Typically we get plans first then the patent then the product. We are normally one of the final steps in the process of introducing a new product. We the information comes in if they do not want share information we have to sign legal documents, with this product they did not have us do that. Now I know that I have made speculations about the new model and I may be way off base but in the two years of doing this job I have only seen one product not come through to the market.

Thanks John for the commonsense overview.
Thanks Jon for the positive clarification.
And thanks to both of you...for keeping the Dream alive here in Hopeful Anticipation, Vacland.

By the way

The one product that did not make it to market was a new electric 5.5 amp motor for TTI that came through about 8 months ago.
