Thank you, I remember a neighbors Universal Probably from the late 30's as at the time it was about 1950/51. I have wondered the same thing. Were they only around Ohio ?? or what (uprights that is )?? Have never seen or heard of a universal upright since ! Norm |

I have seen the early 50's one. In person and in a catalog pic. The late 40's upright is the one I saw as a young one. As I remember the swivel wheel, like the older Eureka's. Thanks again. Norm |

Did any of the uprights like the one pictured above have a purple bag? I was only 5 at the time when I saw this one, but still recall that purple Universal bag. The woman who owned it lived in Unionville, Connecticut, about 20 miles from New Britian. If I recall corectly, the bag was on the right. Alex Taber |
