I have a three year old Rainbow 2 speed that I bought BRAND NEW! I love the vacuum, but hate the power head. Suction on the vacuum is great, but when attached to the power head, I don't think it does as good a job as the Kenmore Progressive power head. So I usually end up vacuuming carpet with the Kenmore and I use the Rainbow for everything else.

I would like to trade this power head since I barely use it. It looks NEW but I hate the thing! I want a better power head. I don't even care if it's reconditioned. I have no idea what other power heads (if any) will even FIT my Rainbow. Please help if anyone knows and if so, where to look

Hi Mark.
I recommend the Eureka Express power nozzle with the VGIII. It should fit the Rainbow E2.

Rainbow

The only thing I don't like about my Rainbow E2 is it is so damn noisy.(not as quiet as my Rainbow SE Performance Edition)..

Thanks! I was hoping to trade my current one for perhaps a reconditioned one or money off a new one for someone who would want an almost new E2 power head.

Before you ditch it

Remove the cover and see if the passage to the wand is stuffed up with lint, also replace your belts every three months.rainbow powernozzles go through belts, lastly make sure the brush role's end caps are not gummed up with dirt.

No there is nothing blocking it at all. I've used it so little, the thing smells new still. Something about the way it is designed restricts the airflow or something. I don't know. Example: When I'm vacuuming with the Kenmore canister, if I run the power head over the tile, it will pick up great and I can actually hear the airflow from the bottom of the power head being really strong. If I have the Rainbow on, suction/airflow is GREAT, but when u run the Rainbow power head over the tile and it doesn't pick up, say, all of some dried crumbs or something, it makes me think (if it's not picking up these crumbs, how is it getting deep down in the carpet?) Something about the way it's designed or something (I dunno) I put my Kenmore power head on the Rainbow and ran it over the kitchen floor and I could hear the strong suction coming through the power head and picked the dirt right up, so it's definitely NOT a suction/airflow problem with it.. (but the way the Kenmore canister power head is designed with the quick release, I can't use it on the Rainbow....I suspect that with a better designed power head, my Rainbow would pick up a LOT more dirt

Hmmmm

Well, I've taken it apart. There's nothing blocking it at all. I haven't used it enough even for it to be blocked LOL. Since I live in a new house and vacuum every day or every other day thoroughly, I've never had much dirt show up in the basin quite honestly, so I was very sure it wasn't blocked by lint/dirt etc but I checked anyway. Like I said, the suction on the Rainbow I have is GREAT; just not when you feel the bottom of the power head with the brush roll turned off. I remember reading on some forum and remember a guy stating he didn't like the Rainbow E2 power head because it "chokes off the airflow"

I was the "guy" stating my Rainbow E2 powernozzle chokes off the airflow-look at its design and you will see what I mean.Other powernozzles aren't made the same way the Rainbow E2's is.They need to replace that nozzle design.I "jury rigged" a Compact-Tristar "Turbo nozzle" to my Rainbow E2 and indeed it picked up much better-that water in the bin turned into mud!The E2 canister with its SR motor performs quite well-but it is literally "choked" with that outdated Rainbow powernozzle design. And the nozzle goes thru belts. My E2 Rainbow has more airflow and suction than the older E type machines. And yes my Rainbow is new as well-I bought mine new from the local Rainbow dealer.I am the only user.Because of Rainbows crappy carpet nozzle-Use other canisters instead-and of course my Kirbys-No powernozzle is a match to those!!I use the Rainbow on occasion-its is kinda fun and novel.--But messy.I dump the bin outside.I am glad to see another "guy" who has noticed that their Rainbow E2 powernozzle doesn't work well either.

YOU were the guy that I read in that post a LONG time ago! LOL cool! Well, with the Rainbows suction, and a GOOD power nozzel, it would be great! I guess I will purchase a new one and maybe sell mine on ebay. I dunno..We will see, but yes, I see what you're saying. If I can put the Rainbow PN on the kitchen til floor and it WON'T pick up crumbs (and it's not clogged) how could it be cleaning carpets very well? Ya know! Someone suggested the Wessel Werk PN.
