Well, after seemingly forever, I finally finished restoring my Kirby 2R. If you remember, I got this on Ebay last summer right before the convention and it was shipped very poorly but survived the trip intact somehow. This is probably one of my rarest vacuums I own right now, next to my Utility. This first pic is a before restoration pic. Enjoy the pics!

Spectaculuscious, Chad. Well worth every drop of elbow grease it took to get it to gleaming & glamorous perfection.

An inspiration to us all.

Terry, I did use a bench grinder with buffing wheels to polish it up. This machine had lots of scratches, maybe the worst one I've polished up. So yeah, it took quite a while to get all or most of the scratches out of the aluminum.

WOW, beautiful job Chad! Is the on/off switch on a 2R in the handle or? I didnt realize it dosent have the usual pre 500 series toe switch.

Yes, Brian, you are correct. The "R" series Kirby's had the switch in the handle. They are pretty rare which is why you probably haven't seen that many of them.
