I was down at the employee sales center on Friday and I only planned to buy some "Y" bags. However, when I was looking around I saw this lightweight Hoover upright. It had been sitting there for awhile so I looked closer at it. It had been marked down to $97.27 from $194.54. There was a headlight model next to it and these were the last two that they had. So I thought it was a good deal so I grabbed it!

I have played with it for awhile and it is not a bad machine. It seems to groom my carpet nicely and it is not too loud. It is very sturdy and easy to use. It is no where near as heavy as my Hoover Convertible. I like the long cord as well. I know that it is made by Taconi (spelling?). I just wondered if anyone else out there in vacuumland had one version of this machine? Any thoughts about it (good, bad or whatever)?

Tom,
That is a Riccar SupraLite/Simplicity Freedom upright with the Hoover name on it.
Tacony is the parent company of Riccar/Simplicity.

In my opinion, This is a 100% better machine than the Oreck XL21 upright/Oreck XL upright!

There is no vacuum better than an oreck.

Kinda shows David Orecks business genius (which i support wholeheartedly) that people start copying Orecks of all things ;p

That's cool! I didn't know Hoover offered something like this.

I must say I am excited for my new "Slider" to get here.

The Hoover ULW

We sell a good number of those! They are good machines!

We even have a fleet of 6 "loaners" that we lend out while peoples vacuums are being fixed... should they need it. Aside from new belts and new cords (from them getting run over), they have been very problem free!

You got a Great deal on that, Tom! Enjoy!

Tacony vacuum

Congratulations on that vacuum. I bought my Mom the Simplicity version of that vacuum but if i knew there was a Hoover version, i would have bought that one instead. I love that they placed the medallion right where it should be! It really is a great lightweight vacuum. My Mom loves it.

Hoover ULW

Very neat machine; I saw those at the Hoover store the last time I was there and wondered how they perform. The brushroll looks more substantial than the Oreck (the whole base does, actually), and the price can't be beat!
