Currently there is a Bylock Table Vac listed on UK ebay, and I notice that a couple of guys in the US have asked questions about it. Jack (vintagehoover) has a fine example of this very unusual machine, and I thought you might be interested to be reminded his youtube vid of it

If I am not mistaken it has a 300 watt motor, and I expect that the Dyson which he has recently demonstrated cleaning his car is rather more powerful - there is such a thing as progress after all.

These machines were amongst the last to be produced by Bylock

Great concept! The Federal Electric vacuun cleaner worked the exact same way, but they priced themselves right out of business. That vacuum cleaner cost $140.00. Too ritch for anybody to afford.

As for the guy in this video, if he's not, I'm not!

Hi Alex,

the guy in the video is me. And I am. Hope that clears things up.

As for the 'Tablevac' design being a 'good idea' - well, it's an idea, certainly. But a good one? It's my firm belief that people who bought these machines rarely ever used them as vacuum cleaners! Put it this way - barely any of the tools with mine show the slightest sign of use. Also, it was supplied new with a packet of 6 'Bylock-Lewyt Speed-Saks' - one of the 6 was fitted in the machine, partially full. The other 5 were still sealed in their wrapper!

Al - you're right, a 300w motor, and my battery-powered Dyson could eat it for breakfast!
