Today I got my $100 worth of Kirby products today from their vacuum contest. In the box was many things including the Kirby Vacuette! I've seen an Oreck version of this too, so who really makes this vacuum? Does anyone else have this too? Here is the photos and video.

Douglas is actually another division of Scott & Fetzer, so from a company stand point, it was made by the same parent company.

I have one too but the one I have is all burgandy to match the Legend II. The bag on both are the same.
Did they make anymore of these?

Wow, they are still using the legend/heritage bag style!

What kind of contest did you enter to win that?

I've heard there was also a Panasonic version too.

In August Kirby had a video contest.(www.kirbycontests.com/...) I entered my video called Kirby Heritage II and a Cup of Sand and won 2ed place! The 2ed place winner gets a $100 worth of Kirby products. And this was some of it!

Because I was awarded 2ed place in a video contest, I've decided to start making videos of my collection and post them on Youtube.

My Mom's car is really dirty right now, and we have a Siberian Husky, so I could vacuum up the pet hair in the car as another video. There's also a place where my cat sleeps that needs a good cleaning too. Air-powered turbo heads have never gotten the job done, so I'm very excited about this!

Is Kirby still making these? I will be sure to keep the box no madder what!

I didn't win mine, I just bought it at a rummage sale for like $3.00. I don't think it's EVER been used.

I don't think it's tiny LOUD 3.5 amp motor is going to last long, but it is a Kirby! Ether way, I'll will try my best to preserve it like all the other vacuums.

Back in the day

The salesman would give the Vacuette to someone who just purchased a cleaning system. From what I was told the gift was costing the independent dealers too much so the practice was stopped fairly quickly.

Gee and I got a set of 4 quick cut knives. (Also a SF division)

I vacuumed up some crumbs in the car yesterday and it seems to have a very cheap fan. It sounds like it going to snap when vacuuming up crumbs. But, I have a 1 year warranty!

kirbysthebest & Vacuettes...

a007kirbyman's profile picture
After 25+ years in the business I don't recall them being given for buyers themselves [as a Kirby promotion program]; however, the Vacuettes were quite often used as a complimentary gift if a person gave a certain number of referrals that resulted in (a) sale(s).

Bill,
It makes more sense for it to have been a referral tool.

It was the local dealer that told me they used to give them at sales I could have misunderstood. He said that they used them like a carrot at closing "if you buy, I will give you this" The only thing was they cost the dealer and the "free gift" was too expensive to keep giving away. Then they built the cost into the package, but many opted to take a discount instead.
