Here are some of the modern cleaners we played with this weekend when some of us UK guys got together at Mike's place.

Someone's got a new toy...

More dirt...

Post# 79782 , Reply# 13   9/3/2009 at 04:38 (5,342 days old) by vintagehoover ()

And afterwards.

Guys who were present to witness this event, back me up here.

- Did this carpet not look like brand new?

- Was it not almost completely dry when we'd finished?

Mike: the Mach7 and the All Terrain - money well spent?

Here's what I brought along; every other meet we've had, I've taken vintage machines. This time, I thought I'd go for a contrast! It's not like there was any shortage of vintage machines to look at, anyway!

'But Dysons don't leave those beautiful tracks in carpets!!'

Except...y'know...when they do. Exposing another myth - carpet tracks courtesy of my DC14 Origin.

Croissant crumbs are no match for the DC31!

The All Terrain.....

Id like to vouch for what Jack said :)

The Carpet (which didnt look "dirty") ended up looking(and feeling) brand new.

Once finished it was indeed only slightly damp - you could walk on it straight away and it was touch dry in under 3 hours, bear in mind its quite a thick pile as a shorter pile would be dry even quicker!.

Looking forward to christening mine when I get round to it ! :)

Seamus

The US "Mach 7"

I notice the US Mach series only goes up to 6- this looks pretty much the same though - the Windtunnel + Cyclonic......

Hi Seamus -

the Windtunnel + Cyclonic is indeed the US equivalent of the Vax Mach 7, but the US version has a Dual-Cyclone copy, not a Root Cyclone copy, so I don't know how comparable performance is. The brush-roll will also be stiffer on the US version.

Hi Norm , yep sure will, they are a great team the vac and carpet cleaner, the vac has a big wide path so cuts cleaning time down (NOT that we want to do that!!!), the cord rewind is ultra smooth, the motor is evenly pitched , not a screamer and the tools & dust bin clip on / off very easily...

NOW, the All Terrain Carpet Cleaner speaks for itself, whilst the carpet wasnt mingin, it certainly gets used a lot and am not totally precious about it...I used a rug doctor just before christmas, with the solution as stated and no extra clear water rinsing..it became evident using the Dual V for the first time that it was overfoaming in the recovery tank, so we wondered it was because of detergent residue still in the carpet, switching OFF the detergent dispenser (detergent has a seperate dosing tank) showed that this was the case!!!

The carpet after cleaning was a lot dryer than other cleaners I had used and its much lighter to manoevere as well...

All in all I`m well pleased with it!!!! yes Special Anniversary discount as well - certainly money well spent!!

Oh and I can reccommend the cleaning team as well!!!...LOl

I may not like bagless Dysons.....

but I think that Vintagehoover is the handsomest vac demonstrator I have ever seen. Dyson should hire him for all their adverts!

A "fan" on the other side of pond :-)

We've just got 2 of those Mach 7 Anniversary Editions at work for the office. I was impressed with the noise level - they're nice and quiet and the suction is pretty strong. I also like the hose, headlight and cord rewind. However, I cannot be doing with that stupidly soft brushroll. You might as well try and vacuum with a brush made from baby hair. I think that's really the one let down it has. I prefer the look of it to the current Dyson lineup but think the brush lets it down, giving Dyson the advantage.
