Hey guys I just got this Hoover vacuum from CL for 10 bucks. I'd like some info about if anyone has any. I usually like older Hoovers so I'm not too familiar with these "Elite" style machines. Does it take the regular A style bags and Elite belts?

Thanks for any info!!!

No.

An Innovation is nothing like an Elite machine. It looks similar, and takes the same fan, but has a completely different motor and a two belt system. It will take a type A bag, but it originally took a type B bag. Parts are no longer available AT ALL, INCLUDING EITHER BELT, so treat this one lovingly. It looks to be in good shape and will command much money on ebay, especially with the tool kit. These are rare because the plastic was very brittle and they broke left and right, not to mention the price of them new.

****WARNING****

THE HANDLE ASSEMBLY AT THE TOP NEAR THE SWITCH IS VERY BRITTLE AND WILL BREAK SO EASILY. YOU MUST NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER CARRY IT BY THE TOP OF THE HANDLE, ALSO YOU MUST NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER ALLOW THE UNIT TO FALL BACKWARD ON THE HANDLE AS IT WILL BREAK AND YOU WILL NEVER GET ANOTHER!!!!!

****FURTHER WARNING****

Before your curious mind wants to tear it all apart, these are a royal pain to work on, and you must mark on a diagram where each screw goes, put the wrong length screw in and you will damage the hood, or other parts. Just take lots of pictures as you dismantle it and make a diagram of the screws.

Thanks for the info. I just got it home (that was the seller's picture, I hadn't even seen it when I posted that). It came with a few attachments (dusting brush, wands, and hose, in original box.... missing the upholstery and crevice tool). Also came with two B bags as well... and two full bags of H bags that will fit my Hoover Celebrity canister (too bad that I just bought some for mine in Ebay and then find that I still had plenty already LOL when it rains it pours!!!).

The guy who sold it said it was his grandmothers. He said the "band" was broken but there was a new one in the box of attachments and he already installed it. There are a couple things wrong with it. The fist is that the handle release is broken and the handle comes back without the pedal being stepped on. The second is that the plastic air freshener part under the bag is cracked. Another thing is the black piece on the front the the handle just below the hand grip that looks like a label or something is broken.

I may keep it a while and then see if anyone would buy it on Ebay. It's fun to play with but it really isn't my style of machine. It seems to have a power surge... if I hold the switch all the way down it goes to a higher speed, but when I release the switch it returns to normal.

Wish it would have come with all the attachments, but I wasn't expecting any so I guess it's OK!

Thanks again!

I have one and they are great vacuums, very hard to find, and like everyone else said, NOTHING like an Elite

Can I sub a belt made for a different cleaner that might fit, or is finding a NOS my only hope?

Also, does anyone have a picture of what the original attachments should look like? I'd like to get the missing crevice and upholstery tool if possible... or at least ones that fit and are black like the originals. Would any with the lock button fit? I e-mailed the seller a polite e-mail and told her if she ever came across the missing attachments that I'd be happy to drop back by and pick them up rather than have her throw them away.

How did the air freshener thing on the bottom work?

Thanks :o)

Air Freshner

Took an Orange Disk. If you are lucky it is still there, but they are not available.

Belts.......

Thats a UK built machine- known over here as the Turbomaster...

Belts are still availiable over here as well as the H4 bags- also the air fresheners(although those are getting hard to find!).

Check Ebay UK or im sure one of us UK guys would be hapy to help you out ;)

If you look at the thread Al's New Finds, you will see a hardbag version of this cleaner, with details on how to change the headlamp, if you should need to

Thanks guys. I find a couple belts for sale, maybe they are NOS or reproductions. Looking at the belts, they remind me of the Hoover WindTunnel self propelled belts! I'm sure the V belt will last a while!

The tools....

Should look like this...

Notice they have Hoover embossed on them- a sign of their UK origins :)
