I'll post a few pics of my beloved Model 305 (manufactured around 1940). I still have not been able to figure out how to attach multiple pictures to the thread??? I am usually not so computer dumb, I don't know what the deal is. Maybe Martini time?

That's beautiful! It complements the room and the room complements it.

And with the original bag too! I'll bet it sounds as good as it looks! Do you have the attachments as well?

No, unfortunately no attachments. The bag is truly in amazing shape for being original...

That's a beautiful 305, the bag is just amazing!

Which other old Hoovers do you have?

Thanks! My four "old" Hoovers are the 305, 28, 61, and 63, which are all in excellent shape. I also have a 35, 1060, 728, a couple of Dial-A-Matics, and a newer plastic "heavy Duty" Covertible, U4497 - that one gets used quite a bit as a regular cleaner in my house. I have all the attachments for the 28, 61, 63, 728, 1060, U4497, and both Dial-A-Matics. One of the the DAM's is pretty beat up but runs good, it has sort of gravitated to the garage to vacuum out cars and clean garage floors!

Why not get a group-shot of them all? Would be great to see!

Jack - I will work on that soon and post it on here. Hope all is well over there!

Nice.....

What a beautiful vacuum. I don't have any of these but we see so much of the 28 and 61 from this timeframe and I think the 305 is missing from the celebration of this era.

I agree. 305's are somewhat of a rarity. Then again, 28's are alot more plentiful than 61's, as they were sold at about a 3:1 ratio. Was there a vast difference in cost that caused this? I would think everyone would love the convenience of disposable bags. From what I understand 305's are somewhat rare because of the bearings. They had a tendency to swell and seize the motor. Did the 305's have the same celluloid cover over the light opening?

I wasn't aware of the problem with the 305's bearings but that certainly could be the case. Yes, it does have the little flimsy plastic film that covers the headlight opening, just like the 28's.
