Thinking about purchasing a used Filter Queen vacuum on Ebay. Can anybody comment on their performance and filtration? If you keep up on the filters do they really provide the best filtration? Anybody used one on the low setting for an air cleaner? Thanks

General use of a Filter Queen is that you empty the dust container once a month along with replacing the cone like cellulose filter. They can perform quite well-but the open top container can expose you to the dust when you dump the container to empty the machine.could be considred a bagless disposable filter machine.the "low" speed on the unit was not intended to be an air purifier-was designed for deleicate vacuuming jobs.-Curtains-drapes and such.I don't know if they can really provide the best filtration unless you use the optional HEPA(ULPA)ULPA Filter Queens term for better than HEPA filter)filter cone that sits on top of the disposable cellulose one.the HEPA cone is supposed to last thru several container dumps(once a month)and cone change. Most vacuum dealers carry FQ filter cones and the optional cone.Beleive they still make a carbon fiber cone to suppress odors. You also use it with the regular cone and the HEPA one.The motor unit-power dome rests on top of the filter cones.Under the cone guard on the power dome is a replac eable "safety filter" to prvent debris from getting into the motor if the main filters leak-or someone tries to use the machine without a filter cone in it.also the machine has a foam like after filter that filters all air going thru the unit. This filter lasts for many years and is not considered user replaceable. If you are indlined and the machine is out of warratee-you can replace it-but involes taking apart the motor-power dome assembly to get to it.That would be recommended for those who are mechanicaly inclined.Otherwise a vacuum cleaner tech can do it.Normall would be done only if you have replaced all filters and the machine still has an odor.
