I was cleaning my vacuums today and this was what I found in my Oreck. This was 6 years of dust. This is what i saw when I opened the case.
See how much dust was on the motor!

Thanks for pointing out the fan-housing problem on the Oreck I found, the 40th Anniv. model I found (pictured on another thread) is OK but I will check my other two as well.

They are cheap to replace...Hesco...I think the part is less than 15.00. If you go to Oreck it will be around 45.00 or more.

If it were me, I would take it all apart, remove the wires from the motor, place everything else in the dishwasher. Rinse it off first. I even put the cord in. Not the top part of the handle with the switch. When it is done it will look brand new.

Take the motor outside and if you have Royal or Kirby put the hose on the blower port and blow the excess dirt out of the motor.

I would then replace the fan, the housing, and the brush roll with new parts...and the vacuum will be good as new.

I have done several machines as of late for neighbors and friends...

Morgan

P.S. Just looked up the parts through Hesco

Fan Housing 13.99
Fan 10.99
Brush Roll 26.09 orig
8.09 after market (I have used this once and it seems fine)
