I am extremely jealous of both! Especially because I would kill to have a Roto Matic with the PN

Very cool finds, Nathan. Particularly like the open tool bin on the Kenmore.

1974 Kenmore Canister Owners Manual

aeoliandave's profile picture
All these boxy powerful workhorse Kenmore Magicord canister models though the years being so well sold and plentiful, this seems a good thread to post scans of the 1974 Kenmore Owners Manual and Disassemble/Repair Parts List, which I found bundled with the motherload of Magicord bags last weekend. 13 pages altogether.

Typical with Sears Appliances, their manuals are always easy to read and understand with all manner of helpful Hints and Tips. Sears has always maintained some vast warehouse somewhere for spare and repair parts going back decades. I was able to easily get on the Store phone and order the correct belt, cables and a new auger bearing assembly for my 20 year old Snow Blower, as that manual also had a complete parts list and excellent exploded diagrams. Same thing for the Kenmore Microwave/Convection over I bought in 1986 that needed a new drive belt and bearing for the top wave deflector fan. I do not have a traditional oven and manage all my cooking with the 1.5 cubic inch Kenmore and a 4 element mid 1960s Tappan drop-in surface unit. Only last year did I replace that woodgrained wonder convection microwave with a spankin' new GE as Sears no longer had a large one available to Canada. But no more temp probe for roasts and turkeys. :-(

In fact I must applaud Sears for holding the belief that consumers can repair and maintain their own machines in the comfort of their own homes, a philosophy they have stuck to. I do hope that Sears can weather the economic storm and continue their fine after sale service & support for many more years to come.

Dave, with the correct new large bags installed in 6 Kenmore Magicord canisters.

I never knew to store extra bags either side of the motor and cord reel. :-)
