Okay, so our hotel has Sanitaires but they used to have Hoover Guardsmans. So I called the front desk and told them I collect vacuum cleaners and that I would buy a broken one or a used one that is not needed. WEll she transferred me to housekeeping who is calling Maitenence and she is going to call back but she said most likely I will be able to get one! How exciting I hope its a Guardsmen

Congratulations! I've always liked how those vacuums looked. I wonder why they went from Hoover to Sanitaire?

From Hoover to Sanitaire

Probably because they want to stay with buying stuff that's American-made, and Hoover bit that bullet in 2007.

I'd imagine they made the switch because the Sanitaire just seems all around superior. It looks better(my opinion), cheap parts supply, more models to choose from, and a company that seems more interested in their commercial model line. Just compare web sites and its clear that Sanitare has something like 17 old style uprights, and Hoover has only a couple last time I checked. Hoover's site seems to be down at the moment so I don't have an exact number for them.
