I'm think my Eureka is going to die on me soon. It's burning and the motor seems to die down some times. This vacuum was the first I collected, so if I could fix it it would mean a lot to me. I realize it's a cheep plastic vacuum which historically means nothing, but is there anything I can do?

I had that problem with my Eureka Ultra when I first got it. Turned out I needed a new impeller and the bearings were in sore need of greasing. If you don't use it very often, this might well be the case. My Hoover 728 is in need of it.

I barely use this vacuum. How would I get these parts and take apart the vacuum to fix it?

The fan should be fairly easy to get. It'll probably be the same plastic fan the Sanitaire uses. As for a lubricant, I use white lithium grease. If it's a newer Eureka, it'll have Torx screws, so you'll need a Torx driver.

I've never really taken apart a vacuum before. Could you give me a detailed way to get into the fan? Once I get to the fan, what do I do?

I think it could be a fair bit trickier than a Sanitare type cleaner, since this is a not an old style Eureka, but an horizontal shaft Bravo style machine. From my readings about this machine, your issues are common.

It sounds like you need new carbons if the motor is acting intermittent like that. My understanding is that these motors run fairly hot so the brushes burn down fairly quickly.

Hey, I finally got a Trox screwdriver. I'd like to fix the vacuum now. Any ideas of how to take it apart?
