I went to work with my dad today, and we had to go in an elderly lady's attic, and I saw this sitting there. Of course I had to ask, and she said "well sweetie, you can have it". I was so excited .It works wonderfully. It has an original package of bags, an unoriginal hose, and two original tools, the floor brush and carpet tool, the rest is not unoriginal such as an Electrolux Crevice Tool and a Royal Dusting brush and some other nonsense things. It has the Tool Caddy which I was told was rare, so that is kind of cool. I am very excited about this one, because I think Constellations are very cool.

It would be nice to get the Lady's full oral history of the 82 while she's still among the living if it was always in her family or indeed her own. We know which Hoover that hose belongs to so the questions are, did she coincidently have that vacuum at the same time or a few years later? Was the 82 hose damaged and she found the newer hose could be wedged into the 82's inlet rather than have the 82 hose repaired or replaced? It seems unlikely that the swivelarm would be damaged in any way and certainly wouldn't be lost being so specific to this model - but it could have been tossed out because she now had a hose that worked well enough. And what about the wand(s)??? Are you very lucky enough that it has its original blue cord and plug? All those additional tools are certainly not and never nonsense in that they surely will go with some other vacuums among your 239+ or those to come. :-) Very nice looking 1954-57 Model 82 and tool caddy upon which to build a complete ensemble over time. Whatever minor surface blemishes it has are understandable and surprisingly absent in a vacuum 50+ years old. I've never seen a non-floater where the base ring was not severely scuffed,, scratched and rusted. In that condition it would easily sell as is for well over $0.00. :-) Dave |

The 82 is one of my favorite Constellations, and mine actually belonged to my Grandmother. My Grandfather bought it for her as an Anniversary gift for their last Anniversary before he passed away. Looks like all you need is to find the rest of the attachments and a proper hose and you'll be all set. Congrats on a great find! Jeff |
