It's true around these here parats that post-Sanitronic Kirbys pop up often at second hand & Thrift stores, many times on the curbside. That's where most of mine have come from. Maybe it's because so many moved on the the power drive series and they can't give these heavy manual push suckers away to their best friends. Now the Powerdrive models are appearing at curbside with increasing regularity. High efficiency aside (carpet installers know when a Kirby has been in steady use - there's no dust or grit when they pull up the old one), from the 1970 Classic through the 1979-81 Tradition there's a quality color and materials ethic at play that seemed to fade away with bean counter intervention. But if you appreciate the complexity and fiddly fun of the Kirby and it's many attachments you sorta want to have one of every model. I would gladly pay the man $50 for what appears to be an Omega in awfully nice condition with many extras...and that alone just for the 500 series boxes and the bits they probably contain. Never tun down mismatched or orphaned parts - if they don't go with something you've got they will with something you get. So, if you don't have an Omega this nice to form the center of a complete Omega Suite I'd say go for it and set those red 500 boxes aside for their matching vacuum. Remember, you posted in the past 3 days about acquiring 5 vacuums for next to nothing and a Legend II for $25 so I wouldn't quibble about a $50 Omega if you want it/need it/got to have it. :-) Dave |

The Classic has always been one of my top favorite Kirby's. They are so ugly and beastly that they are facinating and scary looking at the same time. I love my classic. I would say for the conditon of that original bag alone, $40.00 to $50.00 would be worth it to me! The after market bags don't have that cool little patch on them anymore!
