Day off, gotta get caught up with the chores. With the lawn 3/4 mowed the mower tried to mulch a big rock and bent the shaft. Frankenmower is toast. Hearing online that gas is 10 cents cheaper in Woodstock I zipped down to also check out for used lawnmowers and a few Walmart items (forgive me, Lord) Well, yes the gas was 83 per liter while it is an unwavering 98 per liter in Stratford, London and Kitchener...and Woodstock. The low price is at Canadian Tire only and I needed a full tank. :-) Nope, didn't find a mower but Stanley tells me his under-the-rable handyman recues them, fixes 'em up and sells 'em from his front lawn. He'll keep a lookout. :-) Naturally I had to stop at the Junktorium and upon hitting the center aisle...BINGO!

Yes, that's a Hoover Floor & carpet scrubber (?), an Air-Way 55 and the PN IV and powerhose for an Electrolux 89. Behind the Air-Way is the magnificent 89, green tool caddy with several nozzles and bags. Whee. A strange wand and nozzle were bundled with the Airway that do fit on the 55's bojacked hose & couplers. Mystery wand and tools coming up... Generally bundled with the 55 was also a box full of odds and ends that are quite interesting...stand by... I couldn't get to the checkout fast enough. I couldn't carry it all and even tho I was the only person shopping in the place I hustled 3 loads to the counter as tho pursued by a pack of repo-collectors determined to snatch them out of my grasp. Ok, a bit dramatic...but still, you know the feeling, eh? Total came to $30 + tax.

Ok, so back home I took inventory. The cosmeticcly perfect except for one shallow dent hardly noticable 89 runs quiet and strong at the usual 80". The power hose works but will get the latex re-lining asap. I already have the 89 PN III in light green with dark green bumper. Now I have the dark green PN IV with light green bumper and a spare telescopic wand for it. Cool. Wide 89 Floor nozzle I haven't seen before. Same size as the shag carpet rake nozzle but has instead a black rubber thin slot insert that rides between two outer wheels and would seem to almost contact a flat surface. Doug?

All the contents of the box: Three section GE wands and a green Crevice tool. rubber hose reducer nipple. a sort of a brown plastic upholdtery nozzle with dustpan-like extension shovel? It may very well be a suction takeoff fitting for an upright but since that would make the hose connection angle down into the floor I'll stick with my first guess. Three hose couplings, the third of which fits my Goblin from Doug. yellowed rubber collar cuff a la Royal/FQ for some mysterious vacuum. Two trim rings for hose. White plastic nozzle elbow for whatever... SANITIZOR nozzle for the 55. There's also a nice GE Toaster with brown Bakelite fittings.

Oh, this does make me happy...
PN III and PN IV for the Electrolux 89...spa-ed up. Early pale green PN III has a mechanical switch over the left brushroll end that raises or lowers the brushroll to two positions. Neat. I think this 'new' dark green PN IV has the older III wood brushroll in it as the bristles protrude a full 3/16ths" beyond the brushguard - like the III on lower position - and no adjustment to raise it. So, with a standard toothed belt it literally claws and crawls it's way across a carpet. Powerdrive Power Nozzle - how innovative...:-) Dave

I need to get my passport so I can cross the border again and explore the thrift stores there. I really like that dustpan-like extension shovel. I bet that is what it is, a dust pan,I wonder from what brand? It reminds me of late singer like upright but in Bakelite. Is it BakeLite Dave. Good Ol' Doug Smith. Well, I don't mean old exactly since I think he's younger that me. :-) I'm not surprised that Doug knows so much but it is amazing how he can pull these facts seemingly right out of memory at a moment's notice. Me, I have to file stuff on paper and computer and I live for the search function. Anyway, thought I would share with y'all what he emailed me about this thread... "The Goblin nozzle is from the Clean Sweep that you have. The other three parts (Rug Floor and Crevice) are from a machine made by Siroma Eng in England (they made Silver Queen, Champion and a Kenmore for Simpsons and the Knight for Eatons) See my pages. The 89 nozzle is the combination floor / rug brush referred to in the later 89 manual (and it didn't work worth a damn). Yes it is a replacement handle on the hose. It should have been lime green." What I didn't show is the damage to this wide 89 nozzle I'd never seen before. The piece is black rubber or vinyl but is dry, crunchy, badly cracking up and essentially useless. What is it for? Bare floors? Is this the new Dual Purpose Floor tool shown as a standard part in the skimpy 1972 89E manual that also shows the electric hose? It may not work worth a damn but you know I'll apply all my modeling repair skills to make it demonstrable. If I can packingtape a Singer S2'ds shattered handle back together so it functions and fools Crevicetool surely I can put the same effort into this clever looking failure...:-)

This is a good place to post the User Manual for the Electrolux 89E, now officially with the electric triggerhose and the new improved Dul-Purpose hard floor & carpet - very low pile of course - nozzle. I don't think it's been posted before. Note date Oct 3 1973 beautifully written on the front cover. At a skimpy 8 pages it's almost an embarrassment next to the earlier 18 page 89 Manual. What was happening at the Company to cause such a downsizing of the manual, Doug?
