Oh I'm there alright..... I'm completely out of room in my vacuum room! Some vacs are definitely going soon. I have to figure out which ones. I know I'm going to ditch a vintage Hoover or two, but I'm waiting on bearings to come back from being greased.

I think this time I'm going to skip the forum and post directly on eBay. Last time I listed some, only one even got a nibble!

No such thing as too many vacs!

Well...yeah, guess there is. It really gets bad when you start having doubles. I'm looking over my collection with one eye on the vacs and the other on Craigslist or eBay.

But it’s hard to resist a good find

Yes, more than 1 or 2 is too many. But hey, when we find something neat or cool and it’s free or bargain priced it’s hard to resist. I try to give away to friends and relatives the ones I find and rehab and just don’t need. I have my time with them making them good again.

Multiples but with different purposes. One in one out rule.

I try to have a rule, if one comes in another must go out. I’m currently at 11 with my daily drivers included and have two I could very quickly part with at the moment and a third I likely wouldn’t regret if it too was eliminated from what I have. It is actually not that uncommon for regular ordinary people to have several vacuums especially when they live in larger homes with multiple levels, big garages, basements, etc. My sister actually has quite a few herself though she’s not a vacuuming fan. 3 levels of house plus one in the garage, a shop vac for her husbands wood shop, her mother in law has one in her basement apartment. The house has a central vacuum so she now has two sets of attachments and long hoses for that.

I recently gave my Brother a nice Aerus Lux classic I obtained at a Goodwill last year. It was lightly used and such a good deal at $25.99 I had to have it...but then I couldn’t resist an Aerus Lux Legacy I found at a Habitat for humanity store a few months ago virtually unused for $22. So I at least found a home for the Lux Classic as my Brother had heavily worn Electrolux special model 1453 with no cord end and it sounded really bad when it did work that he used doe his upstairs...the hose was leaking too and it had worn out attachments. He was happy to get a very good Aerus/Lux for nothing so he can keep his aging Silverado downstairs and not have to drag it upstairs when it’s time to clean.

My parents have two homes each with a basement and 2 stories above with a vacuum or two (different sizes) on each level. So they all serve purposes and multiples are in existence in larger home mostly for convenience sake of not having to lug the vacuum up or down a flight of stairs especially when needing it in a hurry. So it’s not uncommon for even ordinary non collectors to have multiples.

For me...Some serve specific purposes..an Electrolux AF is my garage/shop vac and I take it to customers homes if I need to clean up from a home repair or remodeling job but I don’t use it inside my own home. Another is a Kenmore LG made canister we keep in the master bath closet and use when we cut our hair to suck up the hair...I got that at a goodwill years ago to replace a mini shop vac that had bad bearings....a third is a Shark rocket which is a “quick vacuum” when I don’t want to pull out the big Electrolux to clean the house or have a quick spill or a lot of crumbs in the kitchen, etc. 4th is my Electrolux Silverado that is my main house vacuum for the every other week full housecleaning but the motor is beginning to whine and grumble when I first turn it on or shut it off so it may die soon. Beyond that the remaining 7..one is a dirt devil mini upright that was a trash rescue and ready for give away, a second is a Hoover platinum collection upright for my partner to use at his real estate listings to make the carpets look freshly vacuumed for pictures or open houses as he prefers a basic easy to use upright for this purpose... then I have a small shark rocket hand held I got free by accident that I am thinking will replace my garage use Electrolux if I decide to part with it soon...and that leaves me with what’s stored in my collection closet...3 Electrolux canisters, one of which was my Grandmother’s model XXX and 1 Aerus Lux Legacy canister, an Electrolux Model G and an Electrolux Marquis, and that little Shark rocket hand held set that was a factory refurbished one I got for close to free. Now if I just had another few vacation houses I could distribute the ones stored in my collection closet for use in those homes and that’s my intention for keeping those particular ones. We anticipate after retiring of buying homes in different parts of the country and spending time in each of them during the best seasons for being there. A little more time until retirement though...I’m 50 and my partner is 45.

Recently had a loss of 4 from the group here, friends and family need. Several were curb finds, ect. Some are long time favorites and won't be going to others, and many just not as fond of.
