Hello,

I was looking at the Miele UK website and discovered that both power nozzle Revolution cleaners are no longer featured.

I have a collection of Miele cleaners and own the Revolution Power Plus and would like the other Revolution to complete the line up. I wonder if they have been discontinued in the UK as I doubt they are very popular. I suspect the Cat & Dog model takes the lions share of cylinder sales.

I will email Miele to find out and if they have been discontinued, I will have to get the Silver Passion Revolution sooner than I wanted to.

TTFN

Roger

Hi Roger,

I have no idea what the official response from Miele will be, but I suspect that if the Revolution models have indeed been dropped from the UK line-up, it's to push people towards purchasing from the S7 range. Whereas in the past, they tried to blur the boundaries between uprights and powernozzle canisters (remember their tagline 'Thinking of an upright? Think again!'), now they have a dedicated upright line, they don't need to do this anymore.

From what I've heard from a very credible source from within the industry, Miele are really having trouble selling the S7 at the moment - too heavy and too expensive. I guess right now it needs all the help it can get! Perhaps when (or IF!) sales pick up, we'll see the Revolution models re-introduced. I agree with you that they can't ever have been big-sellers.

Jack,

I have two S7's, the Cat & Dog and the TOL Autocare Hepa. They are very good solid cleaners but as you say, too heavy and expensive. They need to bring the price of the entry model below £200 to compete on price with the likes of Sebo. I hate the colour of the BOL model, but I have seen it in black and it looks far more stylish.

The S7's are suited to larger homes. I stopped using my Autocare because it was a bit too big for my three story town house. I took the Cat & Dog S7 to my Mum's and I use it when I visit her (I don't allow her to touch it) as she has a larger home with four dogs. In a large room, the S7 maneuvers well and it gobbles up pet hairs and grit. The swivel neck seems better than Dyson's ball as the head stays in closer contact with the carpet, probably due to the weight of it.

I hope Miele don't abandon the S7 and use the feedback introduce a smaller lighter version which would be better suited to UK homes. I understand from reading posts on here and other vacuum related websites, that the S7 has been well received in the States (bar a few niggles) but our American friends tend to live in larger homes than us Brits and seem to be used to larger machines. The Vax Mach range are huge as were the short lived Maytag uprights. Put a Hoover High Power Compact next to a Vax Mach and it looks like a toy!

It's strange that Miele don't offer even one upright in their native Germany. Even Hoover Candy have a couple of uprights in their European line up.

I'll let you know what I hear from Miele regarding the Revolutions.

Roger

On Mieles B2B site

The only Revolution listed is the S5981 Powerplus- and that is marked to be discontinued.

Personally I like the S7510 Autocare I own, but TBH they are heavy(the main reason most customers go with Sebo- well that and the 5 year parts/labour guarantee).

Still the less they sell , the more likely they are to be future collectables :)

I had a reply from Miele regarding the Revolutions.

"Thank you for your email. I can confirm that Miele have discontinued our Revolution series of vacuum cleaners. The reasons behind this is due to us streamlining our vacuum cleaner range as well as a fall in demand. Please note that an electrobrush can be purchased as an additional accessory. The floorhead is called a SEB 216-3 and is suitable to use with the Automatic TT5000 vacuum. This has an external cable which plugs into a socket on this model of vacuum. Please see the below link to view the floorhead:

www.miele.co.uk/accessories/Detai...

To also view the vacuum cleaner please see the below link:

www.miele.co.uk/products/Features...

I hope this is of help and please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries."

So there you are. I may have to get a new SEB 236 power nozzle for my Revolution Powerplus as the latest versions have an LED headlight.

Seamus, if they drop the S7's I will certainly buy another one to keep M.I.B. as a future collectible. I would not be surprised if they streamline the uprights to three models, a base model, Cat & Dog and an all singing all dancing top model. I hope Miele don't drop the uprights and develop them, but like Sebo, new models don't come around too often.

I've just ordered the Revolution 5000 from a local dealer before they disappear completely.

Chris,

Is it the Silver Passion Revolution you've ordered?
I have the Garnet Red Powerplus and am considering the
Silver Passion model. I've seen it online for £259.99, is that a good price?

Hi Roger,

Hope all's well. Yes, I got the silver passion. That's a pretty good price. They range from £250 - £320 depending on where you buy it from. Mine was £279.00 and worth every penny. Not arrived yet, but I did try the display model in the shop and loved it. I considered getting an S7 but found it far too heavy and I don't have the space to store it at the moment so I went with the Revolution. Miele really make me laugh with the prices and variations in model. Stripped down, they're all exactley the same machine. But it's the bits they've stuck on (HEPA filters, power heads, parquet brushes, alergy brushes etc) that you pay the extra dosh for. I've wanted a Revolution for ages though so I am very pleased I've got one on the way before they're discontinued.

all the best,
Chris
