I was passing an estate sale store that I have been by before, and I saw 2 Hoover elite handles so I turned around for a closer look. I didn't get the Elites because I saw this...

What a great find. Is that a Golden J hose?

I think it must be a hose from a gold Model L. A Golden J hose would have built in electrical connectors and stuff and would not fit the Model E.

Not necessarily......you could get a straight suction hose for the electric hose machines. My 1205 has a never-used original hose with it for straight suction use that matches the original electrified hose.

It's hard to tell what machine that hose belongs to. The quality isn't very good. It could belong to anything from an L to a Super J, or it could be a bojack replacement.

You can get a really nice replacement hose for it from several sources. I've got a modern wire-reinforced hose for mine and it works very well. Not to mention a lot more flexible than the old saran hose!

It's just too bad the replacement hoses don't look as nice and complement the machines as well.

If I replace it id want something close to original. Im going to try latex 1st. Not that the modern hoses arent good,I would like to try and keep this one close to original.

You could always keep the original for display only, and buy a modern hose for daily use. The thing you have to worry about, is how easily they get damaged when they are used, and if it is not frayed you should keep it on display and take good care of it. I have a handful of hoses that I keep just for display, even though I sold the cleaners they came with. Someday in the future those hoses will come in handy.

The cool thing with electrolux is you can buy every US metal canister since 1937 and you only need 2 modern hoses to use the entire collection. Not only that but you would also need only one type of paper bag. Not many brands you can say that about.

Sorry im back n forth between the computer and my other new toy that came today. I love the fact that through all the years of using paper bags Lux has always used the same ones, with the exception of the Renaissance wich use type "R" bags. when I had my AmbassadorIII wich I miss, it had a warranty repair and the loaned me a Renaissance, being it was the TOL vacuum then I thought it would work better or at least as good as mine did.It didnt seem to tho.

Nice! From the look of it, it's a Model E. The original hose would have been a blue color, with a blue hammertone machine end. This was the only model of Lux to have a painted machine end on the hose and not chrome-plated. Later, and Happy Luxing, Trg
