I was at a party and someone spilt something and the lady pulled this bad boy out. I was outside at the time and I heard a loud noise and I thought it was a blender, then I elaborated and thought it must be an Oreck. I walked in and there it was. I immediatley walked up and asked if she would like an upgrade. She said depends on what I have. So I ran home and grabbed the mint Oreck 2600 with the 2 speed motor and she flipped out. She immediatley shook my hand and said it was a deal. I explained everything that was better about it, and all the things that hers could not do, and mine could. She even said that any vacuum she sees is mine. :) So I gave this a bit of TLC and it runs quite nicely now.

I have that same model and I love it for the everyday quick cleaning in the main rooms of the house. I love it because it's quiet with only 2.8 amps and great for quick pick ups. Mine still has the commercial label but it's starting to come off. I do know that this model was around in the early 80's because of a Stephen King movie ( Firestarter) It is used a few times in the movie. This would have been around 1983 or 84. I wish I knew when it wa introduced and when it was discontinued. |
