The Turbomaster was sold as the Innovation in the US. The Turbopower was the Sovereign, and we had the Elite as the Turbolite. Here's my favourite cleaner of all time; 1935 Model 800: |

A MOST favorite is hard to say, but if i absolutely HAD TO pick a MOST favorite,,,id have to say the Kirby Heritage 2. Mainly because a Heritage 2 is one of the most versatile and has the most functions of any vacuum cleaner ever devised. (Yes, they did make a Handy Butler for the Heritage series.) It can vacuum with a beater brush, it can vacuum with attachments and strait suction,, it can shampoo, polish hard wood, sand, buff, scrub, spray, paint, even message your scalp and back side! It can even cut your hair, and vacuum up the clippings, without missing a beat! Yes, an Electrolux (lets say a Model G) or an FQ can do all of these things too,BUT, they cant be an upright cleaner with the motor and all of its power right there infront of you like a Kirby,,,they can only be a cannister that you have to drag around behind you. The reason i say a Heritage 2, and not another model of Kirby, such as a Classic series,500 series, Heritage 1, or G series is because the Heritage 2, with its shaved down winged bell design of its Rug Nozzle head makes the Heritage 2 (and Legend 2 , of course)superior to all others,, very easy to use, and is not top front heavy like the Classic Rug Nozzle. If you've ever used a Heritage 2, you'll notice in pushing it across the carpet that the Rug Nozzle seems to almost spread its wings across the carpet,,,and right up to the baseboards and corners. Not even a 500 series or a G series can do it quite like a Heritage 2. I feel the design and longevity of the Heritage 2 (and Legend 2) is superior to all other Kirby's,,and all other vacuums for that matter, but, Of course this is just my own opinion,,,,and opinions are like "you know what" holes,,,everybody has one!! lol |

No favorites - I love all my children equally...cue smarmy tear-welling music. When I turn my eyes a few degrees in any part of the house I spot a new favorite every time. But to contribute to this thread I choose to choose the 1948 Brooks Stevens designed Modern Hygiene cylinder because of its relative scarcity and superb complete condition. This week anyway. :-) Dave |

Dave that is a beautiful Modern Hygiene. One question in your picture what is the clear plastic piece with the attachments in the lower right hand corner? |

The piece in question is actually a felt pad for floor buffing. It is inserted into the suction area of the rug nozzle. |

oops, kidding. No, he doesn't and can't. Rules stipulate that one must have a completed profile and birthdate to win. Whew, dodged that bullet...:-) Terry, the raised portion on the felt pad is a silver painted wood handle shape that keeps the pad centralized and level in the nozzle - it is held in place by suction alone. No clips. The only missing piece is the bottle brush dust snagger that clips to the crevice tool - same as the Westinghouse T-6 has. Simple enough to fabricate... Doug, the slim sleek one sniffing the accessory suitcase is 12 year old Hector, His longhair black brother Dexter passed away 18 months ago. All grown up huge & sturdy at 19 months is a healthy & robust 'kitten' Felix who resembles Dexter in so many ways. Dave |

Convertibles (metal based), Kirby's ( mostly the Heritage - Legend II line up), Filter Queens ( from 1980's till now), Compact/ Tristar from first edition to have power head (C-4? through DXL 1998), Royal metal canisters from 70's till now, Airway/vita vac from about 1970 till the end, Hoover Concept one and two self propelled and non,all before the power surge models. I hate the bigger power surge handel, F G Euraka's from the 70's through early 90's (mostly the aka Blender motor models), 6 amp Metal Royal uprights, higher is to loud but still a great cleaner, All Electrolux canisters (not counting the ones at Lowes), Eureka powerteam, ironside, canned ham, and pirncess canisters, and many many many more! |
