Inside view

look @ the 2 air channels inside nozzle--1 in front & the 2nd in rear (by turbine) & that makes better suction than other turbo nozzles & less dirt scattered.

I had and used with my Windtunnel.
Just my experience.

I have one of those, it actually never worked a darn on the hoover windtunnel but when you pair it with a good cannister vac it does a nice job in small places.

My beef with those turbine nozzles is the bearings on the turbine. They're always bronze sleeve bearings and the shaft spins at such a ridiculous rate that they wear out so fast! Even my Kirby zipp brush is completely worn out. There's no substitute for a good electric nozzle in my book. Something like a Lux Sidekick is far superior to a turbine nozzle any day!

I agree with you tristar! I have the Lux Sidekick and it works great. I also have 2 turbine nozzles - one for my Miele Capricorn and one I use with my Kirby Ultimate G (it is not the Kirby zip brush). The sidekick will outperform the other 2 nozzles every time. I have fairly plush carpeting and use the sidekick on the stairs. The turbine nozzles get bogged down whereas the sidekick does not. I also have 2 cats and find that the brush on the sidekick does not get wrapped with fur but the ones on the turbo nozzles do.

WindTunnel 2 Turbo Brush

The WindTunnel 2 Turbo Brush is the same design as the one pictured at the beginning of this thread. It works ok, but the Miele Turbo Brush is far better. I don't mind the round Kirby Turbo Brush, but it is kind of akward to use.

I agree about the Zip brush. It does spin rather fast but the bearings wear and slow down very quickly in it's life. I have found if you drop some poweder graphite in the bearing it speeds up again for a little while. I still have to stop every few minutes to clean the dog hair out of it, also due to the design it doesn't get anything more than the surface dirt and hair because it doesn't seal to the item being cleaned. You still have to go back over with the upholstery nozzle to get the deeper stuff.

I haven't ever used the sidekick, but would like it if I had one I am sure.

I too second the motion that ELECTRIC hand tool brushes are better than the air powered ones.Remember that most of your vacuums power is being used to turn the brush rather than picking up the debris. The electric ones allow a separate motor to spin the brush and the vacuums suction power can fully be used to pick up the dirt. The air powered ones are OK on vacuums that don't have an electric hose.I have the Rug-Rat style brushes and a couple of Kirby Zipbrushes.I have a "Sidekick" style brush that fits the Tri-Star.Its sort of like the Electrolux Sidekick brush handtool.

Hoover WT turbo brush

I'm SURPRISED those brushes last me a long time--the 1st one I got was 8 yrs ago & still runs like new; vs. the RainbowMate which burnt its motor & I had 2 replace it with a cheap turbo brush til I got the Hoover brush. Despite my household having CATS, the Hoover brush OUTLASTED other turbo & electric "mini-mates" I've ever owned.

I think the RainbowMate didn't last as long b/c there's no dirt guard on brush roll. I've never used a Lux SideKick but I think its the same as a RainbowMate.

I really like the lux sidekicks and the kirby zip brushes because i have 2 dogs and 2 cats and the zip brush really pulls out the hair off the upholstry.

Lux SideKick

How do they hold up well & my RainbowMate didn't? It's a mystery as 2 my Hoover turbo brush held up after 8 yrs of hard use & tons of cat hair (I clean turbine every other use) unless the hair clogs turbine. Depends on how much my cats shed every day. Boy its a PAIN vacing up cat hair; its thinner than human hair, but with that brush it comes off furniture like MAGIC!

Can I use a MiniStar on a Lux 6500 or Sidekick on a MG Series Tristar? Or are they not compatible?

Kenmore's Mini Powermate

eurekaprince's profile picture
I gave my mom my Kenmore Elegance Power Team vac (called the "Progressive" in the USA), and it came with an electrically-powered mini powernozzle that really works well and never loses power. I use it primarily to clean our car interiors, but it also does a nice job of brushing mattresses.

The only company that actually offers on-board storage for their electric mini power nozzles is Kenmore or Panasonic. The new Kenmore power teams even have a special compartment on the vac unit for the mini power brush.

Sweden's Electrolux is now offering an electrically powered nozzle with Eureka's Riser Visor rotatable nozzle door. I think it only comes with the new funky looking green machines!
