How did the Convertible Elites and the Decade 80's use style A bags? Could someone show me a picture?

I don't have a picture....

But they used a modified fill-tube design. Instead of ending with a circular outlet, they had a plastic "wing" looking thing that ran up the front of the bag and terminated with a bag mounting boss that fit the Type-A bag.

Incidentally, the outer bags on the Type-A machines were larger than the Type-C versions to accommodate the larger bag and the fill tube.

You can actually retrofit any convertible using the clip on bag setup to the Type-A bag design simply by replacing the fill tube assembly. I know the earlier Convertibles used a metal clamp setup, but I'm not sure if they can take the later plastic style clamp. If they can, you can convert all Convertible models. Oy.....getting tongue tied!

Hopefully someone else will share a picture if they've got a Type-A machine.

here is a picture of the fill tube setup for top-fill convertibles, got this pic from an ebay auction for one.
Here is the link for it if anyone is in need of one of these.

Do you mean the first style of the Type A fill-tube?
