Ok, so I have a Kenmore Progressive Canister that is a little over 2 years old, it is the orange one (Sears changed the color to yellow) and im having issues once again with the powerhead. I had it serviced twice while it was under factory warranty for the powerhead cutting out and now its doing the same thing. It seems to work fine when you have the handle of the hose twisted all the way to the left. Thanks to modern technology Sears can't seem to locate me ever sending this for service let alone buying it. I also noticed that the little powermate jr thing doesnt work at all. Im wondering if this is something to do with the hose or both powerheads? The small LED light on the wand doesnt go out then the powerhead cuts off and only turns on when you switch it to carpet and that leads me to beleive its something with the powerhead, otherwise everytime the powerhead cut off I would think the LED would go out as well. Hmmm things just arent made the way they used to be..I guess I will keep vacuuming with the Convertible #65..At least it works..

the problem

I would say the problem is most likely in the hose if both the power nozzle and powermate jr are not working. I would check the contacts in the end of the house to see if they are burned or dirty. Also, there could be a loose wire in the handle assembly. Just because the LED doesn't go out doesn't mean is the power nozzle. Usually the panel is fed by a constant source of power and its the terminals that come off the switch that supply power to the Pn and Powermate Jr. Might also check the switch to see if a wire hasn't shorted or fallen off its terminal.

Hose Problem

Thanks! I will have to check those things out. I guess I could also attempt to take the handle apart and check out the wires and such in that, im just worried I will screw something up and it wont work at all haha. I am still trying to get answers from Sears and they still cant find anything on the purchase, so im going to try to call the service center this week and see if they have anything. Ugh when did Sears get so shitty...

The small wire coming from the neck of the Power-Mate to the PM, Im assuming you vac has the touchpad control, in that case it could be the touchpad malfunctioning. And be carful when you take the handle apart sometimes the wires to the bord break easy. Let us know how you make out =)

I love the progressive vacuums but this is the problem I have with all of them that I have owned, they work great, and even when maintained and taken care of this happens...im not sure if its the bottom of the want connectors that snap into the powerhead or the connectors at the handle that snap into the wand...........the vacuum works great other than this very problem

Powerhead

Well Ryan decided today to take a look at all the connections and they all seem fine, while apart he hooked up the powerhead and it was still doing the same thing, so we think its the powerhead. If anyone has an extra one around or one for cheap that would fit this model please let me know it is model # 116.25813508 Thanks..
