I am looking for a good steam cleaner as our old Hoover Steam vac pos is just not working anymore. It could never clean anything well at all.

I am looking to spend $200 or less.

Is the Dual V a good choice? How about the Royal thing.

Or should I stick with the Rainbow's aqua mate?

The Dual V is the biggest piece of shit I have ever used or owned. The standard design of Steam Vac with Spin Scrub is in my opinion is the best choice.

I bought a Dual V Turbo Power at K-Mart on Sale in November, I used it twice and the third time I used it the bearings were grinding and it would not usck up any water or dispense water, only the solution would disperse, I took it back and got a refund and went back to my Steam Vac Silver Series W/ Spin Scrub which is the old style Steam Vac. Some people like the Bissel Pro Heat, but i found it to be less than impressive in the scrubbing and water return department to me it was similar to the Dual V. The Aqua mate is probably good, I have heard good reviews on the Royal but I prefer the Original Steam Vac with Spin Scrub and the Professional grade Thermax, but it is very pricey.

hmm

I really hate the old steam vac. I always thought it did the worst job ever of cleaning carpets. We had a Regena that did better than it. And that was a $30 steam cleaner.

How about the platinum? It has got great reviews, and I found one for the price of a new Dual V.

It sure does have a lot of fancy stuff on it like digital controls and a very unique looking brush design.

Oh and why does my steam vac have the same brushes that are on the Dual V?

Post# 65237 , Reply# 4   4/6/2009 at 19:43 (5,469 days old) by vintageroyal611 ()

Because Spin Scrub technology is on any Hoover Steam Vac that has moving brushes.

yea i know

But everyone keeps saying the old spin scrubs were better

???

Ah well we are getting the platinum one.

I have heard, and read many complaints on epinions over the Dual V. I would steer clear of that one. The old style spin-scrub with clean surge seems to have the better ratings of the upright home cleaners.

I did like the looks and design of the Royal, but some have said that it's extraction abilities are weak at best.

The Platinum Hoover is pretty cool with all the doo-dads ad gee-whichies; just a little pricy for my budget.

I'm being sent a Vax Dual V to trial later this month. It's the same thing as the US Hoover equivalent. I'll let you all know what my impressions of it are. I'll be doing a video of it for YouTube as well.

The Vax V-124 Dual V got Which? Magazine's Best Buy Carpet Cleaner seal of approval...

'That vax is like a carbon copy of a hoover dual v'

It's exactly the same thing - TTI also own Vax and some of the US Hoover models are sold over here badged as Vax. The ironic thing is, they're competing for sales against European Hoover-Candy models!

I don't like the Dual V either. It sounds like a 747 at full-throttle takeoff and leaves the carpet too wet. The older Steamvacs worked a LOT better. Too bad my mom ran over ours with the car.....

???

I hate the old steam vac. I guess I will hate the Dual V more.

Our steam vac could not do crap what so ever. Cant even get a simple spot out of the carpet. I really hate it. Always hate to use it.

These machines are tools, not mirical workers.

It may have more to do with your stain than the cleaner.
Remember to pretreat, agitate and then go over it with the cleaner. Also look at the detergent you are using. Many have suggested plain white vinegar. I am going to try it this weekend, will let you know.

I have a Hoover Steam Vac since 1999 its the best OUTCLEANED the Rug doctor & even pulled dirty water the pros left behind (landlord hired carpet cleaning service before we moved in) now that I moved into a new house w/tile floor NO carpet in any rooms (except throw rugs) that get tossed into washer. U wont believe how clean your carpets will REALLY be if U have a Hoover Steam Vac--dont even think Stanley Steemer will leave them as clean as a Hoover!
Is Hoover Europe also owned by TTI like Hoover USA?

Sorry about the 'lean'...the bed isn't the best place for photo-taking, but I'm not lugging this machine into the front room until I have to!

The multi function vax.I guess they didnt sell here. They started selling them at sears around 89-90 and they only had them about 2-3years for about 400.00( i think). Then they dissapeared, and I havnt really seen any used for sale around here. anyone remember? They probly didnt sell because Kenmore had thier own version the Power-Spray or whatever that also converted to reg. vacuum for about 100 bucks less.

Hi Terry - I'll be sure to let you know what I think! I will be doing a video of its maiden run, too, for my YouTube channel.

This Vax is actually manufactured in the Hoover facility in Mexico - it's a Vax by name-only! Sadly, I suppose you could also claim it's a Hoover by name-only...

Thanks Jack, I will be watching for it. Hope that you are planning on attending the convention in Chicago. Would be so good to see you again. Terry

Is that Dual V a XXX DuoPower steemer? I assume the XXX Duopower must be a private labeled machine of a Hoover Dual V 4 my local vac shop--does any other vac shops have there vacs private labeld (Sears/Kenmore/Craftsman)
