Model XXX

That is a Model XXX (30) that was made from about 1937 to 1952 (or there abouts). I think that particular model had the longest production run of any Electrolux model.

I retreat to my corner to sob in privacy...

Mine was about $8.56 in 2008, from the Humane Society Thrift Store in Vero Beach, the attatchment caddy came from one of my pals in Vacuumland. What a great find for you, and I know somebody can fix you up with all the extras.

Hey Cody! I think I have a rug nozzle, floor brush, tool caddy, and cord for your machine if you still need them. Let me know. Later, Trg

I think I had a little trouble myself believing what I was seeing when I got my XXX. They don't turn up in heavily shopped thrift stores every day.

Question for Rick

What is that little device sitting next to your crevice tool on the XXX? It looks like it could be some kind of air bleeder attachment. I've never seen one of those before.

Post# 64098 , Reply# 18   3/28/2009 at 10:21 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )
Bill,

That is a suction control. Prior to incorporating it into the handle of the hose. I'll post a picture of it in a little bit. It's really kinda cool.

Post# 64100 , Reply# 19   3/28/2009 at 11:02 (5,479 days old) by petek (Ontario)

Rick I'll give you $20 for that XXX and all the attachements etc.. Deal? And to save you postage mailing it to me I'll pick it up in Chicago. Even better deal for you.

Post# 64101 , Reply# 20   3/28/2009 at 11:03 (5,479 days old) by petek (Ontario)

And just to sweeten the deal I'll make it a $20 Canadian bill.

Post# 64102 , Reply# 21   3/28/2009 at 11:17 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )
Pete,

I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I ripped you off for $20.00! I paid $4.99 plus shipping for that machine. It was minus a hose. I then "restored" it (didn't take much)- basically polishing and cleaning up. I've since added the extras over the past couple of years. I did have the cord winder re-chromed. This and my LX are among my favorites. So much shiny metal!

Bill,

Here's that suction control. It's marked in low - high increments.

Post# 64103 , Reply# 22   3/28/2009 at 11:18 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )

Here is is from the top - it's in the high suction position.

Post# 64104 , Reply# 23   3/28/2009 at 11:19 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )

As you move the knob toward "low" these vents open up.

Post# 64105 , Reply# 24   3/28/2009 at 11:21 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )

Here it is in use. I always wanted one of these. It came as an "extra" with a sprayer. It was listed in the Electrolux XXX manual, but I had never seen one.

Post# 64107 , Reply# 25   3/28/2009 at 11:28 (5,479 days old) by luxg ()

Well I learn something new everyday!! Rick I have never seen that suction control before. Have to go back and check the manual I have for my XXX and see if they show it. Oh my, your machines are beautiful!!!!

Post# 64108 , Reply# 26   3/28/2009 at 11:34 (5,479 days old) by crevicetool (GA )
Terry!!!!!

Post a picture of your triangular crevice tool. PLEASE??? I think Bill would get a kick out of that!

Rick

Gosh Rick,
Your machines are sooo pristine!!
You've inspired me .... once I have my move behind me (next weekend is moving time) I've got to rev up the elbow grease and shine some of my machines.
My Lux 30 and 2 Kirbys are headed for the buffing wheel
I do love all the chrome on the luxs and Kirbys ... and it's so much fun when they're shiny.
BTW, love that suction control .... sometimes it's worth the extra effort to get the suction just right.
Thanks for posting
Pat

Here you go guys, I love this little tool, not sure but I think it was made for clothes, drapes, etc but I have found it works great on furniture too.

Triangle Attachment

Is that triangle attachment an aftermarket item? Or was that produced by Electrolux?

And Rick, your Westinghouse and Lux G are sensational! I don't believe I've seen a XXX hose look so immaculate, and you've even got the optional wall brush and white dusting brush!

Bill, from what I understand it was made by Electrolux.

Terry,

Thanks for the picture. Those little guys are so neat. And heavy for such a small device. You've said how handy it has been in use.

Dave, thanks so much for posting that!! Very interesting. I had no idea that it was that old. Like I said it is really a handy little tool and I have used it often on furniture. It just glides over the fabric.

Thanks for sharing....

Rick, that G is beautiful. Let me know if you ever want to unload it; I might be persuaded to take it off your hands. ;)

Terry, thanks for sharing photos of the upholstery tool. I've never seen one before. It sure would come in handy.

Mike
