Today I purchased a like new hoover upright vacuum that looks a lot like the Oreck. The clean and Light is in my opinion a better designed machine than the Oreck XL. You can see pictures of this machine in my eBay store.

Oh, and I only paid $7.50 for it.

And you're asking

$94.95 for it! That's a helluva markup! :-)

Are you SURE you want to be telling us this, hehe!

(Some of us DO have you marked as a Saved Seller)

Seriously, that is a rather nice looking machine. I especially like those side brushes, what a concept!

I wonder if it's prudent to announce what you got it for considering what you are asking for it...

your right

its seems in poor taste. That is just my opinion. I try not to sell on ebay especially to fellow collectors.

Thanks for your input

It is not my intention to sell my parts or machines to anyone on this group, however I have sold parts to members in the past, and always got great feedback.I am a powerseller with 99.9% positive feedback,I only try to tell people I have something they may be looking for. My prices are reasonable for what I do to make sure my customers are getting good reliable products,I am sorry if my humor offended anyone on this group.

I apologize, Richard...

...I was just ribbing you -- hence my smileys and "hehe" in the post. I didn't mean for the thread to turn.

I have you marked as a favorite seller because if you have something I'm looking for, I'm going to buy it. In fact, I think I have in the past. Your prices, to me, anyway, are quite reasonable.

John

I've noticed people in the past bragging about how cheap they got something for and how much more they were selling it for... seems kind of like a smack in the face to potential buyers to do that. John, you aren't the reason the post "turned"... I'd have posted that response anyway. I'm glad there's at least one other person who agrees with me.

Richard is one of my favorite sellers for Kirby parts, his prices are very reasonable. Back in 2007 I bought an outer bag for my Heritage II, I think it was less then $5 including shipping. Anyway, the bag didn't show up for weeks, so he sent another and it arrived, and then the first one arrived. He was nice enough to let me keep both (Thank you again!).

One of the best sellers on eBay! As all of his feedbacks say, "A+++++++++++" indeed!

Well that's good to hear!

Coz I just bought a cord for a Kirby Classic III from yah Richard! I went thrifting after work, and found this one at the Salvation Army shop. In pretty good shape, but the cord is not original -- well, the plug isn't original anyway.

well

I am sure your intentions are all well. But that is a huge increase on price and you are advertising your ebay store on this forum so it would only seem normal that we would come to this conclusion. I am sure you do have great deals and things of that nature. I just thought it was in poor taste to say hey I bought this paid nothing for it and now I am selling it for a huge profit. You are right what a great find and a good deal. I will say that I sell on ebay and have a friends that do as well. I would have started the bid out lower and if you got to that amount great job. I just would not feel right knowing I may have sold this to someone who is a collector and I may have taken advantage of someone of whom runs in the same circle as I. It is my personal belief that we take care of our own.

Well, if you found a Hoover model O for $5, would you sell it for $6? The man's gotta make a living, the price is very fair considering it sells for way more from other sellers.

I will be no longer post on this site

It seems that lately several members have been saying a lot of hurtful comments to other members. I don't know if it is the economy or other personal problems but I am tired of reading this harsh stuff. In the future I may start my own site which the forum will discuss repair and user issues where I can share my ten years of service knowledge on all makes and models of machines I have owned and worked on. My wife Trish and I are still working on more how to fix your vacuum videos, and expanding our on line business so that we can better serve our growing customer base.I want to thank everyone for their support and wish everyone the best of luck.

Richard...

I hate to say it, but I do agree with the predominant voice here that you really shouldn't say what you paid for it initially.

It has nothing to do with the economy, and everything to do with "good business practices". There are two things you NEVER tell potential customers, or competing business men (or even your employees for that matter).

1: What your markup is on products you sell.
2: What your salary or wages are.

If you outright tell everyone what your markup is, and if it's something HUGE like on this Hoover, then suddenly everyone turns on you and questions how much you mark everything else up as well!

Let's face it....you can't blatantly brag about a 797% markup and then expect people to take you seriously! Had you simply posted that you'd found one, and posted the link to it, then it would be a different story, but since you stated what you actually paid for it, people are definitely going to wonder.

I completely understand your need to make a living (and I'm sure everyone else here does too) and I can understand marking things up, but you simply CANNOT post what you paid as well as what you're selling it for and expect nothing but syrup-y sweetness in return!

It's your prerogative not to post here (and I think you should reconsider), but keep in mind what's been stated above. It's just good business practice NOT to tell your inside scoop to potential customers.

ok

well I can tell you its not the economy nor personal problems. Just my conscience and what I think are good business practices amongst the people who are collectors who I feel are friends.

Oh come now! No one here was attacking you persnally. Isn't running away when someone disagrees with you the thing that childeren do? You called your bragging "humor" and now you are trying to pretend to be a victim just because someone disagreed with you!

Posting is fine, (though many if not most of your posts were nothing more than advertising for your business), but I just had to say something about this thread. And, I am not one to stir up controversy, normally.

Hoover Clean & Light

Mine arrived last night, and I gotta say, it works very well. I like the fact that it has an energy-efficient 4 amp motor, yet still very powerful suction. I believe the lightweight Royal upright takes the same bag? It's a shame Hoover discontinued this model so soon, and an even bigger shame they discontinued the new Constellation.
