I was looking around on ebay and ran across this ad for the soft bag Eureka World Vac uprights. I have not seen one in years, except for one on craiglist a few weeks back. They're pretty cool looking for a modern vacuum. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them, or currently owns one.

I remember those, in the mid 90's 3 of 4 of our neighbors had them and I thought they were great, they are all gone now all the neighbors replaced the world vacs with an Oreck and then they all replaced that with a Dyson

You got it Brian and Phill, they were extreamly loud. They are bases on the Bravo/BravoII vacs same motors etc. A friend bought a new one in 1993 BOL model 6amp and it lasted not even 2 years with every other day vacuuming. Also I had one foe 2 weeks(word vac hard bag) as a loner thu Sears n that sucker burnt up to lol. I had a few given to me also and the same thing. The caron brushes for somereason wore rather quickly. My BF grand has one also from around 1995 BOL also and hers still works but she dosnt use it anymore lol. I can see if she wants to give it up.

Christian Klingspor series

I remember those. IIRC, there was the World Vac, then came the Christian Klingspor series. From what I have been told, he was some sort of famous designer. I can't remember the last time I saw either a World Vac or a Christian Klingspor. I think this was the beginning of Eureka using inferior quality motors, thus few (if any) survive today. It's like trying to find an early Dirt Devil upright, or a Regina Housekeeper....

This is all interesting info. I've actually never heard of a Christian Klingspor series. I'd love some pictures of those. I always thought the World Vac was far classier than the Bravo models and most offerings from other big box brands at the time. I just learned from reading that ad that they had 2 zippers on the bag, with one on each side of the light colored strip. This sounds more convienent than the other designs that used one zipper or a top slide.

To me they just look cool, even though I'm sure they are junk like the Dirt Devils were. For some reason, I still like these and the cloth bag Dirt Devils.

You know, I actually liked the hardbody Dirt Devils when they first came out. I remember the Dirt Devil Plus XF, which was reminiscent of the Hoover Dial-A-Matic, I thought at least somewhat. Oh, what a difference in quality though as time would prove. Unless you can find one NIB, or used a few times and put in storage, virtually none survive today. I'd love to get my hands on a Regina Housekeeper 1000 (the first), circa 1986. Does anyone have any literature or an actual Christian Klingspor Eureka they can post a photo of?

I saw one of those exact vacuums in the local used vacuum store. Kinda reminds me of an elite.
