Turbomaster

They were the bigger brother of the Turbopower range. Used a slightly more powerful motor. The 'activator' agitator uses a two-belt system: flat belt and poly-'V'.

When switched on in the upright position, the agitator should be mechanically disconnected; it should only turn when being used in the normal operating position, provided that the 'agitator-on' selector is activated.

Which version did you get: soft-bag, hard-bag, or hard-bag with tools attached?

As far as i know, there were 7 models of turbomaster (in the UK anyway).

U4362 Softbag (me and rob have just bought one of these from a fellow collector and wait with baited breath for its delivery. cant wait)...

Turbomaster U5078.

Basic machine for which you had to buy seperate tools.

Post# 61634 , Reply# 12   3/4/2009 at 16:05 (5,525 days old) by turbopowerpaul (UK)

Turbomaster U5080.

This was the same as the U5078, but had variable electronic speed control.

Known as 'Turbomaster Electronic'...

U5094 - again!

The 'Turbomaster Total System'.....complete with on board tools...

U5096 - again!

the 'Turbomaster Total System Electronic'.

Basically model U5080 (of which Seamus has a great example), but with the variable electronic speed control....

Model U5130

The slightly flawed 'Turbomaster Freedom' - the bagless version, that used to let a fair amount of the dust back out of the machine again!

Launched in the early 90's, with the U2662 Turbopower Freedom, neither machine was very successful (due to the design flaw) and conversion kits to convert the machines to bags were offered by Hoover....

& finally

Model U5120

This machine was sold only through the state Electricity Board Shops in the UK (dont know whether this version was ever exported).

Basically a U5094, but in a strange (and a bit bland) greyee-green colour....

There were US versions, sold as 'Innovation', but i think that that is all the European versions.

Be great to know if there were others!

cheers
paul

Thanx a lot fot the info. I am afraid you have it al ready it is a U5094 total system. in the color grey. If you did not have it I gave it to you because I do not understand this kind off cleaner. I am not an upright person i quess lol. Off course i took it for a spin across the living room and it did its best at a carpet. but when I tried to use the hose with a small nozzle on it to clean the sofa I was verry disapointed off its suction power. I prefer canisters with a power nozzle. thanxx

Hmmm Edgar,

We may be interested in that Turbomaster if you are looking to get rid of it.

Just noticed it has a 2 speed handle switch which was not fitted to UK models.

Does it run at 2 speeds or 1?

Also the front bag cover is different to ours which is unusual for a TM,

Wonder how much postage would be?

Rob and Paul

Hi it runs on 2 speeds. on position number one it does it easy with a soft shining head light, and at speed 2 it makes a lot of noise with a bright light. I will clean it for you( because it needs cleaning lol) and you can have it for free. only problem is the sending and the lower clip of the cordwinder is broken. let me know

best regards edgar

Ya, Innovations, I can't recall anyone in the club on this side having one? Does anyone? I remember them being in stores for a short while then gone and I have never seen one in a thrift store or vac shop since. I quite like the look of them.

I think both Freds do?

U5096

I still use mine. It is the best cleaner ever. What I really like is that I can change fromn carpets to hard floors without bending over. I bought a newer WindTunnel machine when I thought I wouldn't be able to replace a wheel on the U5096. I hate it because you have to bend down to turn the brushroll off.

If anybody ever started making Hoover-designed machines again, I'd love it to be this one.
