Clarke Vacuums are my Favorite. i know just about every make and model. The combivac is my favorite(hence the name). But i have never seen this made by clarke. Anyone know the history of this machine.

I've never seen a Clarke like that. Based on info from the Clarke website, it looks like it was made sometime between 1971 and 1982, the years that Clarke-Gravely was the company name.

I don't know about your chances of finding a 550, but you might have a good shot at finding the later 577 and 579 machines. They were once fairly common in hotels, convention centers and the like. Two-motor, clean air design. Very similar to their competitor, the original Advance Carpetwin, they were big, heavy vacs for use in main lobbies and the like with large expanses of open carpeted space. Built like a tank.

Kyle, check this one out

Here's one you might be interested in, a 576a in Michigan.
