I just came across a Hoover Celebrity with power nozzle for $10. I just vacuumed a bedroom that's never in use. I opened up the bag to see what it picked and wow! What a monster! The brush roll isn't in the best shape but I couldn't believe the amount of dirt and debris it picked up. Quite impressive airflow and suction! I can't wait to see how it will do when I replace the brush roll on the power nozzle! Does anyone have a suggestion regarding where I can get a brush roll at a decent price? Thanks!

Bill

Does the power nozzle have a Quadraflex agitator? If so you can get replaement brush strips, and they can be found on ebay I have bought them for my Concept, kinda pricey I think 10-15 dollars per strip(and you would need two), also Morrison's Sweeper in Canton Ohio has them too and they are cheaper there.

Quadraflex agitator

Yes, that would be a Quadraflex Agitator. I haven't taken it apart yet, but it does look like the brush strips are replaceable.

Bill,

You done been bit! It's all downhill from now on! How many now? These little suckers get under your skin!

Welcome to the world of vacuum collecting! Soon you'll be asking about Lux model "G" wheels, or vintage bags!

(Teheheh)

Gee Wheels!

Rick,
I actually got the Model G wheels fixed! You were very helpful in a previous post several weeks ago! I don't think I would have figured that out without your help. Thank you! This Hoover Celebrity looks like it could be only a couple of years old. Its previous owner took very good care of it. I guess I'm kind of dumb though, because it took me a couple of tries before I finally figured out how to secure the bag. It's really quite simple but . . . I did find a brush roll at govacuum.com for $30. That looks like the best price because I've found them elsewhere for $40 and up. I think it would be better to replace the entire roll because the plastic (beater) bars(?) look nicked. I'm wondering if the nicks will cause damage to the carpet.

The plastic beater bar like things are connected to the brush strips and come out.

YEs, Bill
Sam is correct, the plastic beater bars are a part of the
brush strip. Yes, if they are chipped and cracked, they
will damage the carpet.
It may take a screw driver with the assistance of a hammer
to tap those strips out of the track. Work on them from the middle to the outside. Once they are sticking out on the
open end of the metal roller. Just use a pair of pliers to
pull them out. Then very carefully tape the new ones in.
Making sure the are going in at the correct angle.
then you have to be sure they are all the way into the mid-
dle or they will rub on the end cap after you screw the endcaps back on. Which will cause the roller to run slow and
drag on the end. Which inturm will cause your belt to burn at the motor end because it's not turning !!

Tomorrow's Agenda

Thanks for all the helpful info! I plan to take a crack at it tomorrow -- taking it apart, at least. I'll let you all know how it went. Wish me luck!
