There is a Eureka Express and a Hoover Futura canister vacuum on CL each for 15 bucks. If you had to chose one of them, which one would it be?

I'd get the Eureka Express, I already have the Futura, but I think the power head is a little bit different.

The Eureka Express is a very cool design.....

I even think it was top-rated by Consumer Reports in the 1980's, primarily because the Eureka Express power nozzle with Vibra Groomer III is excellent for carpets. If it comes with the original attachments - go for it! Those Eureka tools are far better than those which came with the Futura.....you may even end up with a top of the line Eureka horse-hair dusting brush.

I'd get the Eureka as well. I was never too in love with those Futuras, the one I had was noisy and I dunno I just didn't like it. So I gave it to Dave LOL
whew got that one outta here

So Pete, it won't hurt your feelings that I recommend going for the Eureka as well. :-) It's much classier looking.

The Futura is ok in it's next life assignment and is now up in Owen Sound being the communal Apartment vacuum for 4 students at Golf Management College.I know at least it is not being abused and being used regularly & properly as the one student, Jake, is my colleague's diligent, well turned out son.
