I have had my heritage for about a year and for some reason the headlight stopped working. now I did check the bulb and it is still good. could it be the wiring?? I also checked that and all looks well but I am now confused to why it is not working.

would love to hear what some have to say about it.

Double check the bulb, it may look ok but actually be broken. Do a contineity test on it.
Also use a multimeter to check that the bulb holder/ wires etc get a voltage when the machine is turned on, and work your way back from there.

The lens piece could be worn

Hi In my experience, the metal contact in the plastic lens assembly gets worn.replace this piece and you will be back in business.I do sell then in my store new2youvacuums.com

These bulbs usually last a long time.....my local vac guy told me a trick he uses.
He said most of the time it is the silver tip that wears down and doesn't make good contact with the socket. Use a soldering iron and add solder to the tip.....I did that and the bulb is still working after 10 years.

Hope that helps...

Michael

Bulbs...

Hello all.

Some of this is/was touched on above ^^^^^ !!!

If the filament is still good in the bulb, 9 out of 10 times it is the lead (solder) contact(s) (depending on model) on the bulb that have partially or completely arced away. You may attempt adding a bit back (ONLY if you feel qualified to do so--LOL.) to the bulb.

Personally I feel the time getting out the "iron," waiting for it to heat & cool, etc; it's easier & time-wise more cost effective to just replace them. (mho) ($2.00 to $5.00 each depending on who, where & which model!!!)

Take care all !!!

Bill
