I went to my local vac shop over the weekend to purchase a new light bulb for my Kirby DS 50. While I was waiting for the sales attendant (who was not very pleasant by the way,) to get the bulb from the stock room.. I took a look around the store. I wandered over to the Kirby section and I found what appeared to be another dual sanitronic 50, as tarnished and dull as can be, with parts from the first sanitronic model on it such as the main vacuum head and the bag top, as well as a gold bag for a Classic. The bag itself looked as if it was ready to fall off of the hanger. The price tag was what threw me the most.. ON SALE, this particular unit was $99.00. I gave $35.00 for mine on ebay and it still looks and runs as if it's practically brand new! I have a feeling this vacuum will be sitting in that store for a while to come.

I have seen this as well....

You wonder what people put these machines together and did they really care? They probably just plugged it in and as long as it ran then would put it on the shelf...

i didn't even dare look at the prices of the Heritage models he had sitting next to it.. they were completely dust covered. As mentioned above, not caring is a big part of it. It has been my experience that almost EVERY vac shop i go to for parts or even just calling on the phone, I find the people to be rude and almost patronizing. There has only been ONE shop here in Oklahoma that I have been to where the owner and his wife are just as nice as they can be. Every other place i've been to between here(Oklahoma City) and Tulsa has been less than pleasant. The Kirby guy used to be nice but I can tell he has completely lost interest and is getting ready to quit business. His shop has thined out dramatically and he has even gotten rid of his vintage display models. I would love to know when and if he does quit cuz he has a sharp lookin' gold plated g-5 i'd like to get my hands on!
