Hello Tommy,

I certainly like it, its very like our UK Z345 of the mid 1970's.

Regards, Walter.

We had some of those in Canada but they were called Dometic rather than Electroluxes

I remember those Dometics, Pete......

At some point after Electrolux of Sweden bought Eureka Williams (1974 I believe), we started seeing some 120 Volt versions of European Electroluxes here in Canada. Since they could not use the name Electrolux over on this side of the pond up until a few years ago, the Swedish Electroluxes were branded with other names like Dometic, and some actually showed that famous Electrolux "E" logo. I remember seeing an Eaton Viking power nozzle canister in which a Eureka power nozzle was married with a canister that definitely was a European Electrolux or Volta or something like that. There was even a line of commercial vacs branded with the name Electroclean, using the Electrolux logo for many years.

It would be fun to start a thread showing our fellow European vac fans what European made machines were available here before the Miele's arrived in the 1990's.

I have one of those Eureka/Sanitaires commercial uprights but it's called a Euroclean with the Elux logo. I needed a bag for it so got one off a red Sanitaire commercial vac.

Yikes didn't mean to hijack your thread Tommy. These Euro electroluxes are a very hard find over here in Canada and the US I'd imagine. I know my next door neighbor has one similar to your first picture, he keeps it in the garage for cleaning the car and he said I could have it so long as I give him something else to replace it with which will probably be an old Filter Queen I have over at moms house.
I'd almost forgotten my other Euro electrolux here.. the little upright Volta model 503 I found at the vacuum shop here in the garbage out back, in perfect condition too. I had to order bags from Newcastle UK. Anyways,,it's a superb little upright, I really like it, so easy to use, pretty quiet too.

Oops....my mistake.....

Yes...the line was called Euroclean, not Electroclean. I wonder how Eureka decided which commercial vac should be part of the Sanitaire line, and which should be part of the Euroclean line.

If I remind correctly Electrolux-Euroclean offered still in the nineties a version of commercial Sanitaires under the "KENT" brand. Anybody knows Kent vacuum cleaners?

I've never heard of Kent but wouldn't surprise me. Since most of these different names like Dometic, Euroclean etc are only decals stuck to the same vacuum it's a cheap and easy way for them to offer a product to different groups. Or sometimes because the brand name of a product can't be used in some countries because another company already has rights to that name.. stick on a new decal

Another great looking vac there Tommy, it is like Walter says like the UK Z345...one of the best selling popular vacs over here!!!first produced from 1975....I love the flash of blue on your model, interesting to see how similar models where made....

What would have been the equivalent USA model the Golden J ???

Now that one there Mike looks identical to next door neighbors Dometic. I must go get it at least for a pic. Plus I found that identical hose in your picture waiting for a vac to match it

Now how do you guys in the UK pronounce the model number?

eurekaprince's profile picture
In the US, Americans would say "Zee 345." In Canada, we would say "Zed 345." What about the UK and Italy?

PeteK - I've got the UK version of the Volta you have; the Electrolux 502. This was my grandma's vac for years. I remember it from being very young.

Thanks Mike.. Here's the hose I have from the looks of both ends and the pattern is an Electrolux.. unfortunately it has 3 tabs on the machine end connector and the 503 port only has gaps for 2 tabs in different positions so I can't use it on my 503.
Your wand there doesn't look anything special, is it sort of a generic aluminum wand?

Hey Mike:

In 1975 the US Electrolux would have had out the Golden Jubilee and the Blue model L. In Canada we had the AP and AP100.

The following year the US went to the Super J and Canada went to the AP200

Pete - if the hose you have has 3 tabs its for a cannister vacuum not the upright

In response to the question about Kents I've used them and worked on them before. Just as good of quality as Sanitaire. Some are blue and white and some are blue and chrome.
