How hard is it to change the outer bags on these machines? I have a G-5 that has a worn spot on the bag and I'd like to replace it. I know there are some plastic ties involved. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Outer bag replacement

It's not difficult at all. When you purchase a new outer bag on eBay, it most likely will come with the new strap. You simply have to cut the old one to remove the old bag, fit the new bag on and tighten it down with the new plastic strap. I just replaced the outer cloth bag on my Sentria, as the one it came with was water stained. This also gave me an opportunity to wash the mini-emtor and fill tube assembly. It's a damn shame how a vacuum so new could see such abuse....

Replacing the bag..

You don't have to cut the strap if your careful. I have successfully removed and reinstalled plenty of straps. The only reason to buy a new one is if its damaged and not holding the bag on properly. A trick to get the old one off is to use a hair dryer to heat up the area where the strap connects. You then use a flat head screwdriver and push the strap through the clasp and off. To reinstall, you need to push the strap through the clasp as far as you can push it, again, a flathead screwdriver can be of help here. Hope this helps.
