I am taking part in the Hoover Advisor Program, that is I am testing New Hoover Vacuum Cleaners that are a part of the Platinum Collection which are available on Hoover.com and will be available in retail stores sometime in February of 2009.

Having registered a Hoover Product in the Summer of 2005, I was sent an invite via e-mail to fill out a survey and to see if I qualify to be an advisor. An advisor receives a Hoover product to test in their home and keeps a journal of the likes and dislikes of the product. The main goal of the program is to get the Hoover Name back in to the public eye, we are asked to have freinds and family use the vacuums and get their comments also.

Well as things worked out I have received the first vacuum to test free of charge, right now I am testing the Hoover Platinum Cordless Stick Vac with a Windtunnel Powernozzle on it. The unit is very impressive the powerhead cleans very well and suction stays strong for the life of the battery, cat hair, kitty litter, and other debris is whisked away in to the dirt cup. The Battery life is around 15munites and recharges in 2.5 to 3hours.

Each Advisor receives a Product Evaluation Journal to fill in each day, after using the vacuum, letting the folks at hoover know what type of room they vacuumed and what type of cleaning they are doing, that is a routine cleaning, spill, deep clean, etc. and what the performance rating of the vacuum was for that job. The completed the journal gets returned to the folks at Hoover to help them develop better products.

Currently there are several models being tested by the advisors, there is an light weight upright that looks similar to an Oreck and comes with a light weight canister, The Cordless Stick Vacuum and a Cordless hand Vac.

To see the full Hoover Platinum line up o to hoover.com and look under press room, then click on the Hoover Platinum Collection.

I look forward to testing other Hoover Models and will keep you all updated.

Rob

Hmm...

That stick vac looks very interesting - very similar to one Hoover is selling in Italy at the moment; the main difference being the Italian one doesn't have the Windtunnel powerhead (or perhaps it does, I can't read Italian! Anyone?).

Hoover Advisor Program

Rob,
That sounds like a very good program. Who would be better to analize a vac than a vac collector. Every time I get a new vac I have a tendency to start analizing what I do and don't like about the machine and because we all have numerous machines it gives us something to compare. I can always find good things and misses on almost every vac. I also try and look at how a certain vac might work for me but at the same time not be suited for someone else's needs. I am not married to any one make or model. They have all had there hits and misses.
Rob

Sounds like fun doing that. My biggest challenges to a vacuum are from my long hair massively shedding dogs and how different brushrolls cope with it. IE. not getting all wound up with dog hair.. Hoover and Eureka brushes are the best, Kirbys aren't bad. Electroluxes and other smaller diameter rolls tend to get the dog hair wrapped around the roll requiring cutting and pulling, a yucky task.

Checked the Windtunnel Powernozzle for the first time today, no cat hair stuck to the beater brush found a few long threads and removed them. So far this Cordless Stick Vac is pretty impressive! No loose of power as the battery drains and has awesome suction and brushing power!

Wow, I love the look of the power-nozzle! Very retro-futurist!

I can see possible pending problem with that power nozzle already for folks like me with long haired shedding dogs... and that is those tiny roller drum wheels that pop-in and pop-out. Those are nasty nasty wheels for getting bound up with hair and then they don't turn and end up scraping across the floor.

How does one

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
'get into" the program? Gosh, that sounded like "rehab" or something. I'd GLADLY test a HOOVER. or two. What happens to them after the "test"?

I was chosen at random based on a Hoover Windtunnel I had registered for warranty. I was sent via e-mail a link to a survey and based on the survey was selected to be a part of testing the new Platinum Vacuum Line.
