I wanted to share this picture of my amazing acquisition last week. A lady walked into my Electrolux branch and was inquiring about our new machines and after she had decided which one she wanted, she said that she needed to go home and get her machine to trade in. When she came back she asked me if I would help her get it out of the car, and when I saw it, I was in love! It was a mint condition Epic 8000! This was the only one of these machines I have seen come into the shop in the year that I have been there. They only sold these for one year, from 1997-1998. It was the next model after the Renaissance and the precursor to the Guardian. It is such a beautiful machine! The colors are Oyster/Fog with red trim. Probably the newest Electrolux I would want for my collection. Anyway, here is a picture.

that's beautiful

Derreck...
What a nice lookin machine. That's the one I wanted when it came out. Too $$$ at the time, so I ended up with a Renny. I think the color scheme on that one is absolutely cool.

It is a beautiful machine. Mechanically however, is it any different then the Renaissance? Or for that matter the Guardian (besides the HEPA filtration)? I would love to get my hands on a Renaissance.

Epic 8000 differences

The Renaissance and Epic 8000 are basically the same machines with a few differences. Both machines have the same motor, but the controls in the hose handle is where they made the biggest change. The Renaissance has push button electronic controls in the hose handle and when they introduced the Epic 8000 they changed to the slide switch control. Changing this also meant they had to change the electronic board iniside the machine. The filter remained the same on both of these models which is just an electrostatic afterfilter underneath the tool tray. The Guardian came out after the Epic 8000 and thats when they added the HEPA filter. The controls in the handle stayed the same, but the inside electronic board changed again. The renny and the 8000 are my favorites, I have both of them. If I get around to it I will post some pics of my renny.

Renaissance

Is this a good machine? I love the looks of it, but have heard it (the Renaissance) is problematic--mostly the hose controls going bad. The Darth Vader color scheme and electronic controls are pretty cool.

I want...

a Lux in general! They are such fantastic machines, but I have looked all around at the thrift stores here in B'ham, and all of them have dents and/or no attachments. Oh, well...

My renny

This is a pic of my renny which I truly love and use it alot.I have heard that the electronic controls in the handle get hot and burn up but mine has yet to do that and hope that never happens to mine. I also heard that's the reason the switched over to the sliding controls

I have a Electrolux Guardian that i found in a thrift store. It's the white and blue one like Countyguy's. I love that color combination!

Epic 8000

I found an Epic 8000 at a transfer station and love it. When I brought it home my wife was overjoyed. A sweet find!
