I never thought much about the Legend ii, I've always thought of it as Kirby's first steps of them developing their "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. However, upon looking at images of the Legend ii on Google, I saw some that were paired with Generation Series styled attachments, and some that were not. The caddies are grey, but the attachments themselves are the same color as the Legend ii. Also, the floor nozzle is the same design as the G3's.
Am I going crazy, or were later Legend ii's sold with Generation attachments before the G3 released? |

The Legend II, which is identical to the Heritage II Legend, except for the color scheme, was a transitional machine, marking the end of the pre-Tech Drive era. It did indeed feature updated tools that would find their way to the G series. Of course, the hose is different. It has a plastic tip, instead of metal, and the machine coupler fits the Heritage/Legend series machines, but not the G series machines. Updating the tools for the Legend II would have made good sense, as there was almost nothing else to differentiate it from the Heritage II. I'm not sure whether the early Legend II machines came with Heritage II style attachments in oxblood red, but that is certainly plausible. Kirby often made those sorts of running changes. Those older Heritage style attachments were also used with earlier machines, at least back to the Classic series.

Edgar,
Internationally (meaning in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, continental Europe and Australia) the Legend II continued to be sold until 1992 as, for some reason, the 230V version of the G3 wasn't ready for sale when our 120V original was. Over there, those Legend IIs even had the G3's white tools, and they even made the Legend II's hose, portable handle and spray gun the same G3 white, too. ~Ben This post was last edited 03/01/2025 at 19:41 |
