Filter Queen Model 33 Plug Advice Needed
[Down to Last]

Greetings All,

I have a Filter Queen Model 33 on which the cord plug (the part that plugs into the wall outlet) is starting to fray. I have called a couple of vacuum repair shops and gotten two prices for replacement. One is for $35.00 which includes the new plug and he will "heat solder" it on, and the other is for $10.00 which will be "twist" on. My question to you all is this: Is one method better for long term use then the other? Or does it matter? I have attached pictures of the plug in question and any advice about this is greatly appriciated. Thank You.

Just fix it yourself...

It looks like you have a replacement plug already Unless it's in bad shape, you could always remove it, cut back the cord by an inch or two, and neatly reattach it. Soldering is optional. This solution costs you nothing but a few minutes of your time and will be much more satisfying, since you will have fixed it yourself, which is of course priceless. A replacement plug, if needed, would run you about $4, and they're readily available at most hardware stores.

Thank you for the suggestion

But I haven't the skills necessary to attempt the fix you are suggesting. You are right in that the plug is/was a replacement put on by my friend who gifted me the vaccum in the first place and who has now passed away. It means a great dealt to me, not to mention the fact that it works very well so I intend to keep and use it for as long as possible.

The vacuum to a vacuum shop ask them to fix the plug.
It's easy to do but atleast you know your limitations.

need a new cord!

its easy enough to put a new cord on these! I personally wouldn't use a replacement plug.
