This week had some amazing finds! First I found a thrashed oreck in the trash, other than a new motor it will turn out fine. Then I found a near perfect elite! No issues whatsoever! They also included a huge bag of parts, At least $30 worth! Half of the parts don’t even go to the elite. They must of had at least 3-4 vacs at least. Best of all I paid nothing for both!

Hey Jack.
That IS a good week in my book!
That poor Oreck looks so sad. But, if you enjoy the cleaning up process, it should be a rewarding one.
And, I now have two Hoovers with that style hood, and I'm too afraid of breaking the tabs to try taking them apart for cleaning and belt/brushroll/bulb replacement.
I wish you luck with them! Post update pictures, if you can!

Barry

Here’s some pictures! The elite is very clean and loud but it cleans great! The oreck is incomplete, it needs a new motor but it looks nice. It also needed some duck tape. The oreck also had a burn on the outer bag, cigarette maybe? I was also wondering if the elite was a Kmart or sears special? I’ve never seen one in blue.

Wow. The Oreck already looks a lot better!
My soft bag Hoover doesn't have the provision for the air freshener tablet.
Do you use the HEPA Type A bags in the Hoover?

Thanks again!

I was hoping I could find some generic tablets for the elite. I’m not sure if I have the HEPA bags. I know the green ones aren’t, but I do have I white bags. Those might be HEPA.

Those cleaners saw a good time.  With some care (you'll give them), they'll run once more, like they were made to do!

Thanks! I’m ordering a motor for the oreck today, so they both should be up and running in a week or so.
