so here is what i did to defeat the oval emptor bag install on my classic III.i threw the bag in the dryer to heat up the elastic & with one pull it went right on with ease.PROBLEM SOLVED ! i now again love my kirby classic III !

Yes, they do. In the Classic III instruction book, it says indeed the bag has a strong spring and "reasonable strength and skill" is needed to remount it. ~Ben
