turn it inside out, fit it over the emtor, then stretch it with a screwdriver. if its a shake out bag then I'm not sure.

I think all Classic IIIs had shake-out bags. My understanding is the first Kirby model to have a filter bag option was the Tradition

That said, I had a similar challenge with a Heritage '84. The bag was filthy when I got it, so I took it off the Emtor and laundered it. I spent about three hours trying to wrestle it back onto the bag, but finally gave up and substituted a plastic mini-emtor from a Heritage II, which took about 15 seconds to install. Now knowing the inside-out technique, I may have to give it another try. I'd like to have the original emtor/fill tube assembly in place so I can use up a small supply of Style 2 bags I have on hand.

Happy to help! I hope it works out for you! By the way I think with shake out bags its pure strength. I tried today with my 518 and it worked.

the round emptors are easier to put on than the oval ones.i can almost get it but not yet.might try the mini-emptor & see if that works on my classic III.so far it's just been grunt & pull.i must overcome this problem.

Easy-peasy

The mini emtor is super easy. Unzip the outer bag, put the emtor and fill tube assembly inside the bag, orient it properly and pull it through the hole in the bottom. The outer bag practically seats itself.

ROLL the spring on with your fingers - do not try to pry it on.
Works great.
