If I end up with a broken rear wheel, is there a trick to remove the wheel for replacing from any Hoover Elite?

Elite wheel?

You are not likely to have a broken rear wheel. The problem with Elite rear wheels was changing from metal axle(that worked fine)to plastic axle(which could cut into the base housing with heavy use).As I recall to remove wheel place flat screwdriver at outer side of wheel and pull away from wheel. The housing will flex enough to allow axle to drop out.
