This is the first time I have ever seen this episode! I very well remember the episode of I Love Lucy in which she is sold a Westinghouse tank cleaner by a door-to-door salesman. I also know that the show had some sponsorship contract with Westinghouse in the early 1950’s. But I never saw this Westinghouse upright on the show!

ooh...I never saw that one either. That's their popular upright of the early 50s (and 40s). That show sure knew how to do product placement! Thanks for posting this.

The show had some sponsorship contract with Westinghouse....

Actually Brian, when the episode you posted was filmed Westinghouse was NOT a sponsor of the show. Phillip Morris was the sole sponsor of the show at that time. Westinghouse did not start to sponsor any of the Lucy shows until they became part of the Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse in 1958. PATRICK COFFEY

Thanks for that info Patrick. So I wonder how Westinghouse allowed “I Love Lucy” to show several of their products on the show in those early years. Viewers can clearly see the Westinghouse name on the refrigerator in the kitchen and on the upright and canister vacuums in the two episodes that feature them. There must have been some contract signed for these product placements.
