Back when I was in high school, I was part of an online community called the physical media community. It was a place where me, a person with autism, and other people with special needs got together to share what we liked and disliked about physical media. It used to be a great place. It was how I got into grounded videos from GoAnimate/Vyond and Plotagon.

Nowadays, it's not like that anymore. The whole community has devolved into endless adultchildren who can't behave themselves, make bland and unoriginal content, and more. I will never EVER go back to that community because it sucks so bad, and I'm 28 years old. Also, grounded videos are stupid and repetitive.

I will not mention names though.

A lot of the old analog media communities are being infested with zoomers that have no social skills or even any intelligence on the matter and are just following it for clout and attention because someone on TikTok said you need to be doing it. So you have a flood of people that have no idea what they are being a part of, buying stuff with infinite money who then start clashing with people that never stopped using physical media, that are being bullied and pushed out from the new kids telling them they have no idea what they are doing, don't know anything, blablablabla. The cassette community is especially bad. Got people paying over $200 for junky 90s Walkmans you can get for $3 and thinking they are so big and post it to get lots of attention. It's ruining a lot of places like this.

I know, it's BS. I don't have TikTok and there's no chance of me getting one. There are trolls who are calling me out for having a job coach, calling me a pedophile, calling me the r-slur, threatening the police on me, and for advertising my disability online. Let me explain what they are saying...

1. There is nothing wrong with me having a job coach. It's best if I keep their identity hidden.

2. There is zero evidence of me talking to minors online, even if the conversation was clean. Also, I never once took my clothing off online while minors watched, unlike what the physical media communuty likes to do.

3. I never had a criminal record and it's not like anything was stolen or anyone was physically hurt. I bet the trolls are committing federal crimes by false reporting me.

4. Being called the r-slur as a person with autism is very hurtful. When I tell them to stop, they don't listen.

5. Advertising my disability online is freedom of speech as it gives people a role model. It's not like I'm abusing my powers.

6. The trolls keep making fun of my family, yet my family will do anything to protect me. More proof the trolls can't mess with me.

7. The trolls say I defend adultchildren...uh, excuse me? I was denouncing them, not defending them.

P.S.: I'm not saying names.

I agree, the Internet can be a mean and heartless place. I hope this site, at least, is not that way for you, that you feel safe, respected, and accepted here. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story and to let us know what you are experiencing elsewhere so we might learn from it.

Thank you for the kind words. I also hate it when people online claim that I have a brother born in 1981 with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and a brother born in 1998 with Down syndrome. Let me dispel those claims:

1. My brothers IRL do not have those disabilities.

2. I don't think I've ever ran into anyone who has FASD.

3. I've met plenty of people with Down syndrome and they are very kind and harmless. Bonus points if it's a female.

I had to get this out there. I'm not saying names though.

I also hate it when the physical media community members have the words UTTP, EGCP, VGCP, etc. in their channel names. I also hate it when the members bring up people I never heard of.

I AM NOT MENTIONING THEIR NAMES!

Most of the physical media community hangs out on Discord and Google Meets/Hangouts and gets into drama. I don't care for those platforms, so I'm in the right mind to avoid them.

There are also members of the physical media community who as adults, still watch children's programming.

I'm not saying names.

The real physical media community (the one I was part of when I was in high school) is about how it beats streaming, not the drama kings and queens who make the blandest and unoriginal of all content, get into drama, etc.

It's communities like that that make me find my own niche and independent community. One where I can just be myself.
