On December 9th, it will be Stan Kann's 100th birthday (in heaven - he left us in 2008). Here he is in his vacuum bag suit when we were at Hoover the first time.

In his honor, run a Hoover today! We miss you, Stan.

Happy memories.

That photo was taken at the 10th meeting of the V.C.C.C. in Allentown, Pa. May of 1995.

If you recall two maids gave the club those Hoovers.

I correct myself, this was the meeting in 1994, the hotel room was in Canton, Ohio.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STAN KANN.

While this cake is a bit old now, its fitting for today. It was created for the first gathering of the V.C.C.C. the weekend of May 4, 5, 6, 1985. And we, John Lucia and I, as founders, knew Stan well. He was the one who is really responsible for the club.

By the way this was the original logo for the club. A non-electric bellows machine from Britten dating back to 1890, called the Baby Daisy.

The Fox Theater in Saint Louis put on a special performance of the Mighty Wurlitzer organ, which rises from the floor on a cushion of air from the Spencer central vac blowers. Stan played the organ there for several decades before going to L.A. and the bright lights of T.V.

Many photos and memorial pics were given away. The final song played; "Somewhere over the Rainbow" left the audience in tears.

I'm blessed to be able to have many machines in my collection from Stan, a number of which he gave me himself while he was still with us.

RIP Stan Kann. I'm taking good care of your Aunt Cora's Hoover 541.
